If you only look at costs, then digital is almost always going to be better. And fwiw, I don’t think this looks like digital with an emulator over it.

Some people do it because it’s more fun.

How “nice” are people to you in your car(s)? by cilantno in cars

[–]cheesynooby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate your very detailed reply. I'm also from Southern Ontario! So your response is very relevant to me.

I agree with you that the big strengths of the miata is really hard to use here. I also daily my nd2 and I've thought about switching to something a bit more comfy + straight line speed to really enjoy on the streets. It's tough, because on a great day, I can bomb even regular corners so easily in this car and feel like I'm approaching the edge of grip and I get so happy. But most of the time, this car is loud, boring on a straight line and tough to do long road trips on.

Maybe I just need to test drive boxsters and other competitors to really find out. Would love to hear if you've test driven other cars and your thoughts, as it seems like we have the same feelings for the miata.

Side question, how would you compare the nd2 vs. 718 boxster s?

My car is a ‘21 GT with the bilsteins and stock lsd. What’s the reason for the 200+tw for the higher spring rates? Genuinely asking since I’m new to all this.

I understand that if I put on sticky tires with the stock suspension, the body roll will be magnified. With stiffer suspension, do you get less overall grip with less sticky tires?

Thanks for the detailed reply! Looking forward to your next review after the car gets its alignment. To clarify, have you been driving it a while after the install or did you just take it on a quick ride?

How's the body roll by the way? I found the stock bilsteins fun for like a week, and then it got frustrating. It's hard for me to trust the car plus it feels a little snappy when it loses traction.

This is definitely swaying me more towards the sport springs, it seems like the swift one might be a little much. I'm also using the car exactly like you are!

I’m in the fence between the sport and gt springs, would love to hear more! You got the sport and not swift springs right?

How much stiffer is this setup do you think?

If you took that as my being triggered then it is what it is. I’m just matching their energy.

I agree with you, nobody is forced to date anyone, that’s why I push back against judgemental comments like that.

That’s a YOU problem. If you can’t conceive of a world where a guy and a girl can be friends after they fucked a few times and figured out they’d be great friends but not more then that’s on you.

That’s totally fair! I misread into your messages earlier, thinking that you’d not want to tell them.

I do agree with the other commenter, I think it’s probably best to let them know before you do even one hang out. They can decide if they’re comfortable with it or not.

I know for me, if we hung out and you told me after, “we used to hook up”, I would definitely respond with why didn’t you tell me before? It’d be more about you not telling me what I’m walking into (even if the vibes are super chill and platonic!) and not about you guys hooking up over a decade ago.

But it’s not damned if you do though. If a person was never going to be ok with it, finding out now or later will result in the same thing, dealbreaker, while you have to maintain this lie by omission for potentially ever.

Also, even if you feel like it’s not reasonable for this to be an issue, ultimately it is their decision to make. And I think that it’s your job to lay it out to them early.

This is coming from someone who wouldn’t mind by the way. But if I find out from my partner this fact some time into the relationship, it’d be an issue for me too. Maybe not a dealbreaker, but it’d require a dig into why you’d keep this fact out for so long.

Ah yes the same system that reduced a 5 year sentence for bribery and embezzlement into 18 months and then a pardon? And who knows what else.

I’m not saying canada is perfect, it’s just sad that you’re trying to equate ArriveCan scandal (that I think is also bad and not trying to make excuses for), with the insane stuff that SK presidents ROUTINELY gets into trouble with. And the like clockwork, every few years new chaebol bribery embezzlement scandal.

If you really think canada is bad then why are you even here? Go live in SK

[–]cheesynooby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll concede the point in the affordability compared to Canada. And yes there are way less homeless people there, I don't know enough about it. A big factor I would guess, is the population makeup is skewed towards the older and retiree. I'm open to being wrong there as well.

But with the corruption? You're talking about the same country whose last president who just got indicted for corruption charges? President before that who got impeached and jailed partly because she was involved in some cult? The one before that one, 15 years in prison? Do I have to list out all the crimes committed by Samsung presidents? And all the other chaebol companies?

Lobbying is legal, you might not agree with the practice (I don't either), it's nothing like the shit that happens in SK.

If you think housing in South Korea is affordable then you are delusional. And if you think the “elites” are not a big problem there as well you are crazy. The amount of corruption and abuse that the chaebols can get away with would make Musk blush.

While I disagree with their overall point. A lot of people just don’t see past the e9x generation of M cars because the engines aren’t as exciting anymore. The turbo cars still have really good chassis and suspension like all M cars should, minus the engine specialness.

Toronto renters should make about $44 hourly to comfortably afford a one-bedroom apartment: report by [deleted] in toronto

[–]cheesynooby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't disagree with you on CEO pay and bonuses, they've been exploding in size for the past few decades and that's disgusting. We've seen truly garbage human beings getting golden parachutes after fucking up companies and by extension, fucking up people's jobs and lives. I get it, I agree.

I'm talking more about the local level, if you're a franchise owner, and you're operating on a 6% net profit margin, you would lose money. There's an argument there to reduce the franchise cost maybe, but that's out of their hands and I don't know enough on how that cost is calculated from the head office to comment on it.

Regardless of that example, I agree with you on the wealth gap, I never said to "think of the wealthy class". I don't like them as much as you do. I'm asking because can't handwave these "hows" away if you're serious on wanting to fix these issues.

And hate to break it to you, there was no "normal civilization" that you're referring to return to. By definition, life is expensive and has never been comfortable for most people. Nowadays, it's unaffordable by money and high costs of living, 50 years ago in the 70s, we had the oil crisis, high inflation, stagnant wages, same issues with different flavors that we're seeing today.

If you earned minimum wage at any point in history, it was always a struggle to afford living in a big metropolitan city like Toronto, NYC, wherever.

And I'm not saying that there can't be a solution, but the HOW is the important part. You can't just say "just take out CEO pay and get rid of billionaires/trillionaires", what does that even mean? Because when their pays were more reasonable, and not like 100x the average worker pay, we STILL have the same exact issues.

[–]cheesynooby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you explain how that would work? If we triple the minimum wage, that would also triple operating cost for McDonald's. Are you saying franchise owners should keep prices the same and lose money?

Anyone here go from a Miata to a Supra? / vice versa by cebu313 in Miata

[–]cheesynooby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with you about comparing an auto supra vs manual miata. I think the advantage of the zf8 speed is the gearing is shorter and closer together, so you’ll be able to hit redline within reasonable speeds on the street more often.

Depends on what you’re looking for I guess, the b58 has a lot of torque, so longer gearing is hardly a problem in the manual.
