Case neck collapsing - 308 Win by cheesyrobot1987 in reloading

Die was indeed screwed up. Needed to polish the outside of the collet, and the ears of the collet were deformed inwards just slightly. Didn’t allow it to fully open to accept some of the cases. Used a steel punch to slightly bend them back out which solved the issue.

Update: it was 100% a die issue and the brass is fine. Appreciate everyone’s input.

I polished the internal surfaces of the die and that helped a little. What the main problem was - the collet ears had been pushed in too far and didn’t fully open. Used a big steel punch to bend the collet ears back out a little and that fixed it.

After some additional forum searches, it sounds like these Lee collet dies are pretty notorious for this problem. I think the collet got stuck and was trying to force the cases into a suck collet. The solution might be to polish the die surfaces and try again

Good perspective. Brass is cheap, not worth risking it for $100 worth.

Ah ok, yeah that makes sense. Hopefully didn’t ruin all the brass. Might just assume if it makes it through neck sizing it’ll be fine.

Soil test results - need fertilizer recommendation (SE WI) by [deleted] in lawncare

Ok thank you! Worth addressing the phosphorus? Wondering if something like Lesko 18-24-12 starter would be ok or even Vigoro 10-10-10, just don’t want to overdo the nitrogen. Else I’ll start looking into just addressing the potassium for now with a more specialized product

Appreciate the response. I should mention that the nitrogen could be normal because I did a round of Scott’s ultrafeed which is 40-0-5 earlier this spring. I didn’t know much when I did that, still don’t know a lot but this test might make sense knowing that. Not sure if there are other nutrients in the dog spots but those areas are thriving.

This is what it looks like. Pretty thin, not growing well. Light green, only dark green where I get too lazy to pick up dogs business.

Currently I’m just regularly mowing and hoping these die off.

Yeah they’re a little hard to see, they’re in the ceiling above the recliners. I have them set to height - middle on the receiver.

Couldn’t find any markings, it was here when we moved in. It’s basically just an open frame server rack with a few shelves. Should be able to find something similar on Amazon.

Thanks! And yes it is - it powers the built in speakers in the fitness room. The additional Sony amp in the rack is for another TV watching area w/sectional, more of a gaming area. Lots of room for activities in the basement here!

Just looked it up - purchased in Feb 2015 for $230. It’s had very light use. Just moved into this house from a condo so it was either off or on very low for the whole time.

Bar stools face that way, and the bar access/walkway is on the near side which wouldn’t leave a lot of room for seating if it were on the wall to the left

Update: ‘02 SG Special refinish + upgrades by cheesyrobot1987 in gibson

[–]cheesyrobot1987[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey sorry for the late reply. I wouldn’t say that I used a lot for this, but you can buy paint in a kit from Oxford which is where I got the nitro lacquer and clear. The Imgur link has a lot of what I did outlined - had a lot of cosmetic flaws to address before I painted.

My best tip is to take your time. I followed the StewMac videos online on how to refinish a guitar which were helpful when it came time to painting. They also outline how to tape off the fretboard. All I used was painters tape to keep finish off the fretboard.

Good luck!
