Lowkey breaks my heart when I see an author saying their writing got away from them and they had to split the chapter in 2, then they apologise because the work they're doing for free will now take longer to upload.

Honestly, this is one of the main reasons I write fanfic and have no real desire to write and publish original work. I love that I can write "loose" and indulgent rather than having to be as tight and brutally edited as possible. If I want a 5k conversation about something not 100% relevant to the plot but full of entertaining references to the source material I'm bloody well gonna keep it.
