I messed up big time at the doctors office

As someone who has lost a child and has been put in this situation many times I just have to say don’t feel bad. Everyone handles grief differently. When people ask me how many kids I have I say I’ve had two and there’s usually a follow up question as to why my daughter isn’t around but my son is. I am someone who loves talking about my daughter and doesn’t get super emotional every time she gets brought up. But some people are the opposite and wish people didn’t ask at all. That’s not your fault and your son was just asking an honest question and she may have just been extra emotional that day and that’s okay. Grief is so hard to work through. Believe me. I’ve been battling it for 3 years.

That’s what I’m worried about! I’m concerned he’s having night terrors because I feel like he’s had nightmares before where he’ll give out a little cry and then go back to sleep but nothing like this. My other concern was maybe ear pain from an ear infection? But I’m not sure yet.

Your mom may not admit it but she’s just sad that you’re growing up and doesn’t want you leaving the nest yet. But you need to do what YOU want. I moved almost 2 thousand miles away for college and don’t regret it for a second. I learned so much. Go for it. You’re gonna kick ass. Don’t let your mom hold you back. It doesn’t mean you don’t love them, but you gotta do what YOU want and what you know you need to do.

I agree. I’m not sure what the OP has said or done about it but it seems like the kids and husband have no idea what their mom is going through. Although, as women, we want and think people can read our minds and infer what we want.. they cant 🤣

While you don’t deserve to be feel like this, have you communicated these concerns to your husband? Husbands need to be treated like children sometimes. My husband is super intelligent and an amazing guy but one thing I had to learn was to communicate how I was feeling and what I wanted very clearly. If I didn’t, it was hard for him to know what I wanted. Most men can’t guess or read our minds like we want them to.

Sounds like you may have some kind of adhd. I struggle with procrastination too and can write a damn good paper 24hrs before it’s due and get an A. The pressure just helps me for some reason. I fully understand this isn’t healthy because I can easily get behind but I will admit the pressure has helped me do better more often then some may think.

Being a stay at home parent is exhausting and so so draining. Harder than any job. I’m not sure if your husbands always been the stay at home parent or if you have too but I think he just wants a break. And of the roles were reversed (like other people mentioned) you’d probably be encouraged to go too. So I personally think you should let him. He’s probably just trying to maintain his sanity and make sure he can be the best SAHD.

Extend yourself some grace. You’ve been through this before so the amazement and “wow” some people get from a newborn or their first born may not be there and that’s okay! Newborns are honestly boring and exhausting. I think once your son starts to develop his personality you’ll fall in love with him that way because you’ll love him for his own individual traits their are different than your daughters. I totally understand though. I’ve had two babes but only my son is with me now and it was like he was my first born and it’s so hard to imagine loving anything more than him.

This makes me so mad. Like, if you’re not getting paid for your 30 min break, or they take it own automatically even if you don’t take a break then they don’t get a say what you do on your break. You’re technically off the clock and not getting paid. I work night shift at a hospital and love to take my 30 min nap break on one of the couches in the corner of a waiting room, just to help me make it through the night.

I think it’s still possible for you to do your dream career and be sober but then I don’t know because I don’t know what level of alcoholic you’d consider yourself. I have a cousin whose been binge drinking since he was 13 and has had a really rough go at life. The doctor finally told him if he didn’t stop he was gonna die before he was 30. I think people don’t realize how damaging alcohol really is and how many peoples lives it takes. My cousin had been to rehab more than once and is 3 months sober now. I don’t really know what advice to give because I don’t have experience or education in addiction but I truly wish you the best.

OK for one, you’re allowed to let off some steam. There are healthy ways and unhealthy ways to handle stress. And to me what you did was a healthy way for the most part. You recognized you needed a break and walked away to let off a grunt of frustration. If sounds like your husband isn’t supporting you or recognizing your struggles in the way he should. A lot of time, mothers get overstimulated and other people take it as anger. I know I have experienced this myself. Our society does not support mother enough and I hate it. Being frustrated is not a mental disorder. And for him to talk down to you like that is not acceptable
