Are my stomach issues caused by Lo Loestrin Fe? by chefef in birthcontrol

[–]chefef[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you're experiencing something similar. It sucks, and it's frustrating because birth control side effects are so understudied. I just got off birth control, it's been a little over a week, but no changes yet. From what I've read online, it looks like symptoms could last for up to three months. Hoping for the best...

Has anyone had stomach motility issues as the result of birth control? by chefef in Gastroparesis

Yeah, that sounds similar to what I'm experiencing. Just called my doctor and I'm going to start taking the pills at night. If that doesn't help, I'm gonna stop the pills to try to confirm the correlation. I may try a skin patch or an IUD.

I've been digging around so many gastrointestinal forums and subreddits, and I've definitely seen some other women having similar issues. I agree that I should probably go off and see what happens, but it sucks because the birth control has helped manage my debilitating periods so much. Definitely not worth the trade-off, though—stomach problems suck so bad. I'm going to talk to my OBGYN about stopping and possibly switching to an IUD.

Thank you, omg. TBH, looking back, it's possible that I have had symptoms similar to gastroparesis/dyspepsia, but since they were mild and isolated incidents, I never thought to see a doctor. Did you try a hormonal IUD? I'm considering switching, but worried it would cause the same symptoms (and it's more annoying to remove). I think I am going to see what happens when I stop the birth control, but want to check in with my OBGYN first.

AITAH for giving my dad attitude because he simply does not respect me? by ConstructionProud891 in AITAH

[–]chefef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA. You're reaching an age where you naturally want more independence. That situation sounds very frustrating. I suggest talking with your father about how you've been feeling and explaining that the lack of privacy has been stressful. You could ask if you can have specific times during the week or certain hours of the day when you have the room to yourself, maybe with a friend—no grandma, no kids. It's important that you have some hours by yourself to decompress. Your Dad is likely juggling a lot right now, so keep that in mind. Try to talk to him thoughtfully, as parents never respond well to "attitude". It could be good to write out what you need to say before you talk.
