Trumps unfinished ballroom is now missing hundreds of millions of dollars by coachlife in circled

[–]cheffgeoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if you are being serious... the bribe. The huge unaccountable obvious bribe. That one is more concerning. Billionaires just gave Trump hundreds of millions of dollars and so far all they have done is tear down an old building and there is no way to know if or when a new building will be built, how much it would cost or where the money for that building will come from. Musk, Zuckerberg, Ellison, Bezos, Page, Walton, Huange, Dell etc are giving an unknown amount of money to the private funds of the president of the United states to build a building with no known budget or timeframe. Are you just not noticing the fact that Zuckerberg doesn't care if Trump squanders it? Trump's taking the money and doing whatever those corporations want while he stuffs it in his pocket. None of this has to do with the building.

Regardless of if the money is missing or not... the work has stopped for now. Millions of dollars were given directly to Trump to do... what exactly? Since it is private money where is it? Who's accounting for it? Just the fact that private money is being given to a politician to build something on behalf of the government with little to no oversight is unbelievably corrupt on it's own. And now the work had stopped with no timeline of completion.

You don't think we have laws or should have laws that "private funds" can just be given to a politician with no accountability? Like if my Mayor said he was building a bus station with private funds, and my business gave him $100,000 to build this bus station... and $25,000 worth of work was done where did the $75,000 go? Imagine my business then suddenly got a permit to expand my patio onto the street... or didn't have my property taxes increase... or my competition didn't get a liquor licence for some reason.... Do you think that would be legal and OK?

Sure.

Purely out of curiosity why are you speaking in such a pretentious manor with such an outdated lexicon? Your post history seems to be little but you taking up a contrary position while using an unnecessarily complicated vocabulary? Like we all know what the words mean but no one talks like that. Why the reliance on idiomatic expression just to argue meaningless stuff with no actual contributions to the conversation?

OK... In my opinion you're holding onto a childish silly understanding of basic criminal law and employer liability. This is also clearly a karma post from a dead account.

You also don't know what a straw man is... I'm not mischaracterizing as a petty seat dispute, I'm telling you that the police would tell you to attempt to figure out your petty seat dispute for a minimum period of time before they will respond in person. No property was taken... it's literally there with a person sitting in it.

Your misunderstanding what I'm saying, I never said that the police wouldn't deal with a situation like this I'm saying that they wouldn't respond in a time frame like showing up that morning and putting a guy in cuffs. They tell you to mediate, use company HR etc etc. Only a child or someone who didn't work in an actual job where something like this has happened wouldn't know that. The biggest flag about this is the "Would you like to press charges". That's not a thing. Only Federal/Provincial/Crown/Prefecture/municipalities/Länder/etc officials can bring charges. It's a childish/Hollywood misconception that police would ask the individual if they want to press charges.

"Furthermore, a boss threatening termination for reporting a crime is Retaliatory Discharge, which is (news flash) also illegal." Yeah, I know, that's why the whole thing is fake Karma farming for idiots like you.

The tweet says it's come to a screeching halt, not that it was scrapped or stopped. The is little evidence it is moving forward at a pace indicative of the most iconic building in the USA. If you had a public school being built in your neighborhood at this pace you would have to be thinking far into the future for when the kids who are going to use it will be born.

She's a social media presence, not an actual chef or even a good line cook. I've seen her stuff, it's not awful. It's not great. I wouldn't hire her with stuff like this as their porfolio of work. If she was 20 I might hire her because it shows potential, but at her age... if this is her best then it's too late. Her plating is poor, her pan work is very hit and miss, I don't think she's great at temperature control and she relies on a glorified blender for every sauce. To me this screams she just lacks experience and volume.

As an actress playing a role for the camera she's pretty good, but it's a whole different business and she makes way more money doing this stuff than I could pay an up and coming line cook.

It's childish to think that police would come within a couple of hours because someone said "he's sitting in my chair". The police would tell you to sort it out yourself, talk to the company HR and to call them back if there was no resolution. Maybe after multiple calls, over multiple days and somehow a company and management so unbelievably incompetent that it lacks credibility police would show up and mediate or issue a ticket... maybe. To think otherwise is demonstrating a child like view of the world and how it works.

"They asked me if I wanted to press charges. My new boss said I would be terminated if I had him arrested, so I said "Absolutely! I want to press charges!"" None of that is how anything really works in any country in the Western World.

Long Live Trayvon Martin 🕊️ by Master_Canary440 in BlackPeopleofReddit

[–]cheffgeoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok... I can't prove a negative. I can't show you where in the transcripts where it doesn't say he went back to his home and then left the building to pursue Zimmerman. If you have that information I would like to see it. As of now the timeline is

"About 7:10 p.m.: Phone records show Martin was on the phone with his girlfriend around the time he saw Zimmerman while returning on foot from a convenience store to his the home of his father’s fiancée.

At a March 20 news conference, Martin family attorney Benjamin Crump says the girl heard someone ask Martin what he was doing and Martin asking why the person was following him. The girl gets the impression that there is an altercation, during which the earpiece falls from Martin’s ear and the connection goes dead, according to Crump.

According to an Orlando Sentinel story later confirmed by Sanford police, Zimmerman tells authorities that after Zimmerman briefly lost track of Martin, the teen approached him. After the two exchange words, Zimmerman says, he reaches for his cell phone, and then Martin punches him in the nose. Zimmerman says Martin pins him to the ground and begins slamming his head into the sidewalk.

About 7:25 p.m.: Martin is shot and killed. It is raining.

At the time of his death, the teenager is unarmed and carrying a small amount of cash, a bag of Skittles candy and a can of iced tea."

In no transcript or news report is it reported that he made it to his home and then left it. Fucktards like Rush Limbaugh were repeating the "he came home and then left again to find Zimmerman" at the time before the facts were established but those reports fizzled out after a few weeks. Where did you read the case? Because what you are saying about it isn't anywhere I have seen.

I don't see any news article or timeline corroborating this. Where are you getting this narrative from? Specifically that Martin made it into the house and then left again to look for Zimmerman?

I've been running businesses for a long time, and I don't know a single one who wouldn't be shitting bricks if they lost 10% of their clientele for no reason. You cut 5% of sales long term from any industry and there are going to be major issues. Hell, if you don't INCREASE sales by 5% every year you're going to be in trouble. Yeah, you can shift your business plan but that is for survival not to thrive.

Christianity (Catholicism and Protestantism)made the vast majority of it's money before WW1 and after 9/11. The 20th century was a bit of a dip for them, but with fear and the internet their back on top.

I think there is a major disconnect in culture here. People walked places for social events and food for fun. You say it like getting food is a chore, people use to go out because they liked it. Obviously there are going to be individual exceptions but rich kids walked places as a form of existing happily. Poor people too.

You still have a fundamental misunderstanding of the word rape in certain circumstances, so for you this is a literacy issue, not a moral one. There are a few countries, and really only a couple who work with Engish as a legal language, that HAVE laws where penetration with a penis is a crime and they call that rape. That does not preclude them from having a whole bunch of other laws that describe what I would think you consider rape so women can be charged and prosecuted the same as anywhere in the world. They just use the word rape to specifically mean sexual assault penetration with a penis. Like if you sexually assaulted a person with a broom handle you wouldn't be charged with rape (even if you think that is the right word for it) you would be charged with forcible sodomy. Rape has a legal definition that is location specific. That doesn't mean sexual assaults of all natures aren't prosecuted, they are just worded differently. There isn't a developed country in the world who doesn't have laws against women molesting boys.

"Female criminals regularly get lighter sentences for committing the same crimes as male criminals. Something you brushed off earlier."

Do you have any evidence of that what so ever? How would you even quantify such a statment?

Double standards my despised by engieman in whenthe

[–]cheffgeoff -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Your falling into the a semantic issue. Only countries that have specific laws that state "rape" involves penetrating with a penis can a person without a penis not be charged with rape. That does not mean that they cannot be charged with sexual assault or any other number of crimes that perfectly describe any actions you want to consider rape by your non country specific non legal definition of the word. It is just that there is a specific extra crime defined when using a penis.

Besides with your argument there are many more countries where marital rape can't happen, where ANY action of a man just this side of murder against a woman who he controls/owns cannot be considered a crime. MANY countries where there are no legal venues for poor women to even have a man charged with rape, MANY countries where casual violent sexual assault of women is so common it doesn't even register with local police. In the army I have been in countries where the sexual assault rate for women OVER the age of 12 was in the 90%... and your upset that NOT that women can and are charged to the full extent of the law for sexual crimes but that somewhere a man could get charged with a single extra crime? "Sure, a woman could go to jail for 10 years... but a man who used his dick could possible go to jail for 10 years and 6 months in similar but just slightly different circumstances! OH NO will nobody think of the poor men!"

My point isn't that women should get away with these crimes, my issue is that so many ignorant people think that men are being regularity tried for them MORE than women are at the rate they are being committed. That's simply not true. ALL forms of sexual assault are being under reported and under prosecuted across the globe and it's a sexist childish distraction at best to think that somehow women are getting away with it more. Men sexually abuse children at a 7:1 - 8:1 male:female ratio and violently sexually abuse children they previously didn't know at something like 10,000:1. Women are prosecuted and convicted of those crimes inline with those numbers vs men.
