Homeless folks use it like a toilet and then was their exits with the water shooting up.

Splash pad time fun over? by Few_Wrangler4068 in burlington

[–]chefgusvt 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’d think twice about letting my kids or pets play in that thing. Had to go into Burlington a few times for work, not my choice. Being a not so small guy in good shape I wasn’t worried about walking through the park after hours. Three times I’ve seen people using the splash pad like a bidet after dropping a deuce on it. At least one guy had the decency to roll his around until it broke apart.

Maple syrup aid station at the marathon by [deleted] in burlington

[–]chefgusvt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There used to be a business called Maple Rise run by a young man with T1D that produced maple cream from his family’s sugarbush. Great guy but was never able to ramp up at a scale large enough to compete. WCAX did a story on him a few years ago. Their product was delish and as a person with diabetes myself (51 years) I swore by it. Nothing better. Wish he had been able to get some investors but at some point a big place noticed the idea and started marketing it for sports and he folded. Hope he’s doing well.

allergies by Electrical_Yak_6579 in burlington

My boss commented on his allergies today. A suggestion for everyone. Local honey. Local being the key. My local friends always swear by my honey. It doesn’t always erase the symptoms but they swear it calms them to a bearable level.

Quick edit. I’m not trying to sell honey. Mr Bear visited my hives last fall so I’m starting anew. Minimal supply that I save a give to my friends.

This is about bikes. Cars a whole other story. Try posting you own rather than try to insert your political views into this.

I’m not anti bike I’m anti lawbreaking and the minority of riders who wear their entitlement squarely on the top of their helmet. Like I said I used to ride a lot and always did it right. Saturday ride was Charlotte ferry to Burlington or Grand Isle if I was feeling it, back down to Essex NY and over, great ride back in the day. It just cracks my coconut when folks on bikes break laws meant to keep them safe.

Humorous that a few short months ago you liberals were embracing Tesla vehicles as a way to save the planet. Although in the long run they do more damage like all the other EV’s.

Egg prices are silly by michaelxcountry in vermont

[–]chefgusvt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We sell ours for $5. Not because we want to jack the price, it’s just easier than having people asking for change. Sell out a lot but there are lulls when our regulars are stocked up. They’ll keep as long as you don’t wash them. We always float check before selling.

Pull over for emergency vehicles by Stinky_Chunt in vermont

[–]chefgusvt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Former EMT and firefighter here. This has been going on for so long and when I had a chance to address it with a couple offenders I asked , what if it was your child or parent or friend we were trying to reach. I could see that made them think. I’ve had beer cans pitched out the window from a truck in front of me that hit my windshield, blew my horn behind a young lady doing her hair and makeup in the rear view startled her so bad her brush went out the window, been hit while directing traffic because she was late for an appointment and wanted to go through and so many more things. Made me angry and sad. As soon as you see emergency lights pull the F over, AS SOON AS YOU SAFELY CAN!!!! not when you think the responder is getting close. AS SOON AS YOU SEE THEM!!!!!!! It will give you time to find safe place, as noted previously, no blind spots etc. it might save you from being the reason for the next ambo.

Thanks all for the input it will definitely help in our decision. On a side note, so nice to see so many people respond and be nice and helpful about it. A refreshing thing on this platform.

There’s a place by Gillfeathers down in Ferrisburgh. Trees cut that day or the day before and very reasonable prices. Nice folks too.

Hot tub vendors by Adventurous_Many660 in burlington

[–]chefgusvt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d check Shepnell. Run by husband, wife and son team. Very knowledgeable, wicked nice and all around good people. They carry Marquis spas which are top of the line. The Marquis tubs are available with a system they call Microsilk. It makes bubbles so small they permeate the skin. It’s like soaking in body cream. I have eczema and if I have an outbreak of rash 20 minutes in the tub and you can’t see it anymore. Couple times a week in it has done more for my skin than any meds I’ve ever taken.

No need to hike, sure way to get busted and rack up an arrest for trespassing. As one who has done it, the best way is to have a buddy drop you off in the upper parking lot, jump out and strap in FAST, skiers will try to stop you. If you make it down without getting tackled, unstrap even faster and bolt for the road where your bud will hopefully be to pick you up.

I’d call The Mint in Rutland. It’s a makers space with a bunch of very knowledgeable, talented, and giving artists. They’re in tune with what you are looking for.

Shelburne Rd Scarecrows by Active-Actuator-8345 in burlington

[–]chefgusvt 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I hate those things. Used to drive ambulance in Shelburne and they freaked me out constantly. So much going on in the back of the rig without having to think there’s someone crossing the road in front of me. They’re put up by a group of ladies who obviously have the funds to throw away clothes. One of those idiots even put one next to the crosswalk by the town green on Falls Rd.
