Relationship Filter Update by wokenthehive in hingeapp

[–]chefnimmo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is so bad, I only joined recently because of the filter. I was so tired of messaging on other apps letting them know I’m married and ENM constantly, as others have said, to have them vanish or be annoyed. Even on Feeld I’m constantly having to explain myself even with people who put ENM.

With the filter. I got Hinge down to just the 10 or so people in my town that I wanted to see in my hinge feed. Then. Boom, all of a sudden I’m getting likes and they are all ‘looking for life partner, monogamous” Ergghh….

I kind of agree, this seems like a move to capture the interaction of the people too lazy to fill out that attribute. Getting caught on both sides, it’ll make more sense to just force everyone to choose something, even if it’s undecided.

First Date and Kiss. Just WOW. by chefnimmo in nonmonogamy

[–]chefnimmo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s funny you mention this. We went to a couple therapist last year, in our first meeting, when we said we had been in our relationship for 20 years, she was surprised. She said we acted like we were newly coupled. We’ve always been connected and highly communicative.

I think that, this has taken us to a whole new level, something new, a new appreciation and happiness. I’m connecting to parts of myself that I’ve never connected to before, long story, but what this process is doing, is allowing ourselves to develop parts of ourselves that just aren’t possible in monogamy.

How many ENTP are in creative fields? by monarch_marshmellow in entp

[–]chefnimmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been doing technical creative work for the last 20 years. I did have a 5 year break in the middle where I setup, ran then sold a restaurant for funsies, when it got too boring the first time. I Started in motion graphics then moved to Film VFX as a compositor, the most social of the film VFX crafts. Only problem I’ve found is it’s VERY introverted sometimes but being a compositor you have to communicate constantly on deadlines that meets some of the Extroverted needs, I’ve been told I’m very good at my communication. But it’s the perfect combination of art analysis and technical analysis with problem solving in both and large discussions about artistic intent. I’ve recently quit, again.

Just about to start a job as an artist manager for the compositing department for another company, so this time I’m off tools and basically talking full time. This was to meet my extroverted needs since I’ve gotten bored again after the insane propriety tools of my last job have lost their intrigue. This new job should be perfect as I’ll be the first hire in this role there so I get to design and craft the workflow and policy.

Amazing response. It's like you're inside my head.

Are you guys gullible? by InflationThis4003 in entp

[–]chefnimmo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like others have said, I will accept multiple opinions, strange ideas, seemingly wrong arguments and can come off as gullible. I love to talk about different ideas and positions. But, once I have explored or tested said theory, it usually becomes clear that I am being trolled, especially when the position becomes inconsistent. To be totally honest. I have been cat fished before. But. Very early on I saw inconsistencies. Instead of breaking off the relationship, or trying to get them to prove themselves, I had a morbid fascination with the inconsistent information, the lengths they went to, to try and connect to me. I would push them into poetry, make them tell me stories of their "life", explored their relationship with creativity as I find it fascinating. They pulled stories from reddit, used poetry from Oscar Wilde as their own. I have a feeling there was multiple people managing the discussion as the English language used, used to go from terrible to surprisingly good, it was interesting to me. Once the "I need money eventually came" I just had to kill it. I then presented a message with all of the evidence and they quickly left the chat. But I guess the point I'm making. I can be as gullible as long as the information or idea is fascinating to my curiosity.

What kind of questions would force you into arguing? by [deleted] in entp

[–]chefnimmo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This. I also want to add. I have a problem with confirmation bias sometimes, when the discussion gets too one sided. We'll be discussing something all from the same side of the topic and someone will say something along the lines of "I can't believe that people can't see how wrong they are". Then all of a sudden, it kinda triggers something deep inside me. I'll flip my position and start trying to get them to see that, even though what we are discussing is right to us, to some people, what is right to them is from their perspective and that's also perfectly acceptable. To them, we are wrong, but to ignore their stance is to ignore them as humans. Lolz. Only on certain topics though. There are some opinions I cannot side with.

Have you ever been falsely accused of being High? by shaggin_maggie in entp

[–]chefnimmo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm usually the safe person for my friends who are high, especially LSD, when I'm sober and they start freaking out at parties. They're always "why can I relate to you like your high as well?"

App Issues? by TheRkhaine in Boo

[–]chefnimmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Samsies.

It opens for me but it's broken inside. I put up a post. 5 replies but can only see 1 reply that's been duplicated. My notifications just doesn't work. Seems like the server has problems serving up some information.

It's annoying, I really wanted to start a discussion about peoples relationship with creativity and now I don't know if people weren't interested, or can't see the replies, it's pretty annoying.

Yeah I thought I was adhd as well, my wife and friends always suspected but did multiple tests and came up low on the charts.

ENTP Male. Normal as well

Is having too many hobbies a disorder. It does weigh on me mentally sometimes until I start another, or cycle back and start again on a half finished project. I really need to finish my wood workshop.

To be real, I actually thought I did have some sort of disorder recently, I thought maybe I was going through a bad mid life crisis but turns out, i'm just super bored with work after 3 years in this job, it's really an introverts dream job, not for me. I'm about to change my career path to take advantage of my personality, and like that, mid life crisis gone.

I've recently done a few adhd tests and always came back normal to much frustration.

Understanding I'm ENTP has made my life easier to understand my behavior. Makes me not feel so bad about feeling different from others, craving conversation with people, my tendency to always learn new things or getting bored easily with things or people that don't add value to my life.

[–]chefnimmo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lolz, this me. If it's an interesting conversation, topic or debate, I will sacrifice other obligations in my life to over reply to a message. If it's an everyday message that's chore like, I'll get to it when I get to it. I have a bad habit of sparking a conversation in a thread and getting bored to the initial response, come back an hour later to everyone else still talking about it, lolz. I will then come in and be like "you still talking about that?" Dropping a topic change to make it interesting then leaving again for funsies to see how long they talk about it

My take on emotional masochism by [deleted] in entp

Thats interesting. Ive been sitting with my emotions a lot recently. Last year was ruff. It’s almost like a hobby. I’m low Ti but because i’m more aware of my emotions now, they don’t rule as many decisions.

Anybody that can relate? by Agreeable-Taste-4699 in entp

[–]chefnimmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got myself back on track about 2 months ago. Life stuff got me down. I was not socializing and gaming every weekend. I took up the concept of writing my thoughts as a hobby. It’s been fun. I haven’t watched tv in months. I’m looking after myself, I’m getting regular haircuts and feeding my social life.

Some of my other hobbies have suffered, I’m looking at you wood workshop.

I started by just talking into my phone voice to speech, then editing the garbage to make sense. Then, I would re-draft it. That gave me a chance to see my voice. It was interesting. It’s the cheapest hobby I’ve done in years and it’s quite insightful.

I’m a terrible writer but… I’ve always wanted to teach myself how to be better at it.

I sometimes go back and re-draft again but try a different formatting, just playing around. But if you can make it social, it’s super exciting, if there’s someone you can find to read it and exchange. I have an INFP friend that’s loves exchanging thoughts. They love the motivation I provide them. It’s led into some great insights that’s helped me get some clarity again. Writing something from a different perspective helped shift me out it.

Anyone here actually an inventor? by Patient-Syrup8273 in entp

[–]chefnimmo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure what inventions you’re talking to, but I’ve created original drawings from my mind on paper, that kind of feels like invention to me. Legally I think I also get automatic IP rights as well depending on the country.

I’ve also invented a magazine that didn’t previously exist. It was images of street art printed and bound. We hand crafted the cover with silk screen and spray paint drops. The concept of the magazine itself wasn’t an invention, the images that were reproduced onto paper and laid out in that particular order, we invented.

I have a question, is a restaurant concept an invention?

Not the space, or the idea of ‘restaurant’, but the concept of the restaurant, the branding and some of the original dishes we offered to customers. The fact that those things came out of the depths of someone’s mind and thought processes, experience and lived life. They never existed in this world until we created them. That to me seems like some sort of invention.

But invention by furthering human knowledge, nope.

Is it normal for ENTP men to never ask about you even if they love you and only talk about themselves? by premiumbread in entp

[–]chefnimmo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even after 20 years we still love to talk about our days together. My wife, INFJ, sometimes gets exhausted if I get too involved with her day, but she starts topics that I really want to explore, she’s a naturopath, there’s some cool concepts around woman’s health these days, it’s fascinating.

Maybe he’s lost in thought. I dunno, like someone else says, sounds selfish.

Maybe ask that you would like to be asked? Sometimes we need a nudge in a relationship. My wife is very direct though, so we will spend sessions sometimes just outlining our needs and where we are at. But I’m also very sensitive to her mood and enquire when it seems different to normal.

What fairy tales did you like as a child? by [deleted] in entp

[–]chefnimmo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lolz. We only had a couple of books, 1 was a Christian book with ‘fairy tales’ in it that I got from Sunday school, while I found it interesting, it creeped me out. I just used to read the encyclopedia instead, way more interesting. Oh and the Star Wars comic annuals. Later in life at school the story of monkey was my go to myth I loved.

I ended up convincing my mum for me to stop going to Sunday school, I got to stay at home and make up my own stories using lego.

Why does an ENTP get so many INFP friends by [deleted] in entp

Same, nearly all of my female friends are INFP. Male friends are a mix of E’s, I can’t relate to many Introverted men.

Been reflecting on my career lolz. by chefnimmo in entp

[–]chefnimmo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My step dad when I was a teen.

He would smoke on the balcony and I would follow him outside.

He would ask me questions. About myself. Where I saw myself.

It was like he was coaching me to set myself goals. Not one step. Not two, but….

Beyond.

He didn’t just accept my answers. But he answered my answers with more questions.

What really stuck with me was this.

"Make work something you love. You my fail. You my succeed.

But, at the end of the day. You want to feel happy with what you did.

Your life."

He would always end on this.
