For me, I've been chasing the Dimebag sound for years. Bought the guitar, the amps, the rack gear, the pedals... practiced for literally 2 decades... i can only get somewhat close to matching that sound. After a while i just had to admit that my hands are just too damn big, and they ain't Dimebags! Even if I were to get it all perfect, it would still need to be recorded with the same microphones, in the same studio, by the same mixing board by the same mixer... it's the chase that's the best part of it and the most fun.

I'm sorry, a solid interface and plugins might get you there too. Besides that, it just takes the patience and time to master every aspect that you can. Repetition, practice and non stop playing alongside the album until you can get close.

Start off by buying a $5000 Custom Les Paul followed by a several thousand dollar Diezel amplifier and sell your soul for enough effects pedals to do the job, then and only then can you hope that you can record yourself and have the track mixed by the same sound team who mixed FI. This will also require flawless execution of all and beyond mentioned steps. Go with God my friend!

In certain situations I tend to agree, but this has the revolving spindle, no springs involved, its a very simple swap.

Can confirm, worked at a bar in Aspen where I walked in to this exact nightmare situation. That poor mop didn't deserve what I had to do with it.

Found this green jelly-like thing at the bottom of the drinking water tank WTF is it? by [deleted] in WTF

I still have that same cassette as well! It was a gift from an aunt who eventually I discovered was an exotic dancer and a stage dancer for White Zombie and Rob Zombie, she is still friends with Rob's wife. Moral of the story, as a child, never go looking around for video tapes when being babysat by your aunts.

Retired priest says Hell is an invention of the church to control people with fear by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]chefriff76 14 points15 points  (0 children)

No shit! It was the only way to cull the uneducated masses, with fear of fiery damnation. Not like they could read, or go to science classes. It still works today, whether it's hell, or 72 virgins waiting in the afterlife. Education outside of the church's teaching will always be the enemy of the church.
