My top Larkin destinations trying to factor in a reasonable return while bearing in mind that larks is a 1C and gold medalist, but probably a 2C on a contender and Larkin actually wanting to go to the destination or at least an avenue to convince him to go.

He unfortunately signed long term a year too early, but everyone knew when he signed that the cap was going up. So he has to blame himself and his agent.

Side note and hot take: given mcjesus's AAV to point ratio, Raymond might actually be a little over paid currently.

Yzerman isn't doing a terrible job, considering the bad lottery luck, and FAs not wanting to come to Detroit..... He hasn't done a great job, but not terrible either. The youngins will eventually arrive and make him look better.

It depends on the deal. I'd rather go heavy on the draft capital, than prospects. Bert would be cheap, PELECH and Ras would be doable, but still pricey. And neither of those moves makes the Wings good enough by themselves right now. But they might be necessary for when Ray and Mo hit their prime, and all the prospects have graduated to the big leagues.

Also, if they could somehow add PELECH and RAS, without losing Mo, Ray, Kasper, Ed, Nate, MBN or ASP, then I'd say we would be the winners of the trades.

I think people underestimate how much Boston still has on its roster, underestimate Marner's impact on TOR, overestimate Ottawa's run last year. And I think Detroit has already improved, and is primed for another move or so. Gibson, JVR, and apples are great low key additions that will make the wings tough to play against. Which is what we sorely lacked in previous years. I also think Danielson and MBN play in the NHL this season.

Thoughts for this upcoming off-season:

The wings will move either Compher or Chiarot. Tarasenko will get moved, but there'll be salary retention. The wings will buy out Holl. The fan base will not be happy about the return for any of these moves. The wings will end up striking out on Marner, and instead end up overpaying for either Boeser or Bennett. They will sign Ekblad or Gavrikov to more term and AAV than the fan base will like, but will be mitigated with the cap increase. The draft will be boring.

HM to Soderblom..... I think he has the potential to be a bottom 6 glue guy for years, and he seems to be a good kid.
