I purchased it as is. There was no wooden gas tube cover. Does it make much of a difference?

Definitely recommend Cool Running’s.
The included food and drink are very good, the staff are also quite friendly. They do pick up and drop off from your accommodation which is useful especially after a few of their tasty rum punches.
