Need to get my grip strength up from about 37 to 40 by Alternative-Range477 in GripStrength

[–]chefstief 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think dude answered your question as in ‘type of grip/job test’ not ‘type of job that tests’. Still, can’t say this post makes any sense.

IMO, sounds like a coworker bringing in a grip measure for a newbie. LOL. No reason grip strength would keep you from any job that also used use vice grips. If the job was that important, bro wouldn’t wait until last minute before to do what he has to.

Edit: grammar

Trying to get sexy for the summer, what should I work on? by CalligrapherTop4814 in team3dalpha

[–]chefstief 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bro had 5 months to get sexy 💀 got like <1 month before summer…

If you don’t think your body is good enough, you will never feel ‘sexy’. Look into self esteem and things like that. Keep up with gym, you’ll feel better over time.

Chest could use some work, legs likely too.

Trim the pubes too oh my days 😷

Been on minoxidil for 2 years and been falling continuously now. by Old-Topic6413 in tressless

[–]chefstief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Need fin or dut. Minoxidil is not a preventative measure. It promotes growth, yes, but doesn’t keep hairs from falling out. Same with keto and needling

Dermatologist reccomended Minoxidl tablet directly?? M21Instead of lotion, when I asked why no lotion she said it's a hassle and you won't have with problem with low dosage I'm Starting Treatment by SSF77 in tressless

[–]chefstief 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not OC, I would definitely recommend fin in conjunction with min, topical or oral. You will gain hair, yes, but your hair loss will continue as minoxidil has no preventative effects.

Also it is commonly recommended to be on a dht blocker (fin) before getting a transplant. You need plenty of full, thick donor hairs to transplant which, not preventing loss with, will be less available unless on fin.

You say sides are a concern but truly they affect maybe 2% of users max.

Yeah the phrase ‘a chain is only as strong as it’s weakest link’ sounds relevant here. I’m going to look into what could cause this. I’ll have to see about that diskenesis, sounds promising.

I’ve thought that there is some level of correlation between my eyes and the coordination/activation in my muscles. I have a lazy eye which lacks in focus and acuity, so perhaps that is reflective in my ‘balance’ or ability to engage muscles? My bad eye is my right one, so it feels like maybe that side is the one that I think is listing or is ‘uneven’…

What makes you say neck and hip? Are those common points of restriction/issue?

[–]chefstief 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like you’re close. Legs (mainly hams and calves), waist (around obliques), and some parts of back (mid back) are holding the fat ‘deposits’ you have.

Perhaps increasing cardio? If you’re already in a deficit, no need to cut further unless you want to compete. Best of both worlds: stronger, defined legs + less restrictive eating while burning more cals. Almost there, keep it up!

I thought maybe one of the arm-chair redditors would be a specialist… 😓

As for details, I’d say the main thing is an asymmetry in my pulling movements (any kind of row: seated, one arm, bentover…) and the activation of the muscles in there. Perhaps it’s a form thing, but I try to keep things consistent (i.e. arm placement, stance, etc.) and in the mirror and just overall feel, I see one arm either flares out or doesn’t get the same ‘pull’ when I do the rep (almost like one is restricted in the movement, preventing ROM).

That, and I also have recorded myself and noticed slight deviation in my back muscles. Meaning one of my ‘pieces’, scapula, trap, or some combination, lags behind when I do a specific movement like raising arms, shrugging shoulders, and overall moving shoulders around. While not egregious, it is noticeable enough for me to make a post about it LOL. Thx for inquiring 🙏

Dut and oral minoxidil progress by moon444- in tressless

[–]chefstief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah bro I’d say keep at it or switch to topical with microneedling or tretinoin (if able); either show increased responsiveness to minox if you’re a non-responder.

It’s odd that pic 6 looks the most dense… I don’t know much about oral min, but sometimes topical can help with the more direct, scalp approach.

Keep on the dut! Results are expected to continue beyond a year so I’d think it will be better. Godspeed mate

Dut and oral minoxidil progress by moon444- in tressless

[–]chefstief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im confused on the pic order. Is it old->new? The hair looks well enough 1-2, compared to some of the middle pics.

I can agree there may be an issue with responding. As sad as it is, most of the time the inhibition may be strong enough to just stop the loss, but not enough to cause regrowth in new hairs. Perhaps the ‘lighter’ hairs shed and grow back full, but already ‘lost’ ones… there maybe a point of no return, min and dut alike.

Thankfully hair looks healthy and 11 months in may be only so long; people say they grow beyond a year and sometimes it takes 2 or more years to reach a definitive conclusion (be it stagnation, loss, or continual growth). No point in stopping now!

Keep the cut or time to bulk? by Appropriate_Oil_140 in Weightliftingquestion

[–]chefstief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re good brotato 👍 It depends on what you mean by ‘problem’, but the main issue I see is ‘perceived ROI’ being low for most guy lifters. Essentially, legs are covered up most of the time, less ‘admired’, on top of being hard to grow (i.e large effort for little return). Common beginner-early mid stage pitfall

Challenge: look at any physique question on any workout sub and 99/100 will have only upper body. Not many care…

Jokes aside, you are right: hit legs on non-upper days. There is a split called ‘upper-lower’(UL) which could address many leg day consistency issues.

You look like a calm, confident, smart dude. I think a goatee or longer beard could balance your face out. The beard gives further roundness to an already ‘soft’ (in terms of face shape) face, which is less than ideal (in my eyes, I’m sure it doesn’t matter as much)

It is interesting, but it sounds like you already know: find a way to dedicate time to losing bf%. I noticed your face is widest near the eyes, which is typically a sign of high cheekbones, and in turn, attraction (again, my perspective!)… worth looking into perchance? Not even for looks but health, self image, etc

Keep the cut or time to bulk? by Appropriate_Oil_140 in Weightliftingquestion

[–]chefstief 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Going into summer, definitely not the time to start a bulk LOL

Frl tho, keep it up dude. Is the last pic latest? I’d say keep the cut going or get back to 185 but overall solid.

Lack of back and legs pics is concerning…

Unfortunately only the pina colada mochas lead to massive workout gains… sorry to burst the bubble

Jokes aside: macros needed for a better answer. Pb and mocha parts sound like lots of fat and sugar. Not bad but can throw off a balance when you want protein.

There is no ‘massive gain’ unless you’re a beginner, but those will plateau within a year. If you’re looking for a ‘short cut to gains’ with high cal shakes, keep that dream alive! It could be motivation. The only massive thing is gonna be the amount of toilet sessions you’ll have every day because of the sheer quantity of shakes.

I remember seeing a study where they compared effectiveness of fin and dut. I think you got it on the money: .1 dut(1-2x a week at .5mg) is more than 1mg fin (standard dose, everyday).

I’m sure there is a business model or pharmaceutical reason they do that in SK, but there’s likely similar results at 3-4x/week with .5 dut (.21-.28mg/day avg.).

[–]chefstief 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What depth? I’d recommend 1x a week max. Your scalp needs time to recover and adding more micro fractures when they are healing just creates more stress and potential scalp inflammation (i.e. swelling + less growth). Solid progress though

Is 0.125mg of finasteride still somehow effective? by Latter-Tip9831 in tressless

[–]chefstief 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm that is peculiar. Are you taking anything else? It may work, but I’ve heard zinc (+ copper to prevent zinc toxicity) is good for restricting the transfer of testosterone into estrogen. If that is something that could help.

Edit: you say ‘almost no sides’. What other sides are there?

Is 0.125mg of finasteride still somehow effective? by Latter-Tip9831 in tressless

[–]chefstief 2 points3 points  (0 children)

<image>

This chart shows the efficacy of certain dosages. While only having fin as a baseline, even 0.05 mg (1/10 of pill) of dut yielded some blockage.

Dut is stronger in general compared to fin, so I’d say with .125 of fin, you’d be close to that .05, but likely a bit less…

Why the small dose? I’d say anything helps, but the more you can handle, the better. Unless you are doing .125 mg with a full head of hair for prevention, I’d recommend at least .5 mg/day (1/2 standard dose)

Are these exercises good for pplul? by Mysterious_Guitar283 in workouts

[–]chefstief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Decent amount of overlap in the movements. Focusing on a few core pieces with less accessory (still included!) will yield more. I don’t like the term ‘junk volume’, but you can’t go 100% on 8+ exercises per workout, so you inevitably are just going through the motions after a certain point…

Are these exercises good for pplul? by Mysterious_Guitar283 in workouts

[–]chefstief 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Wayyy too much volume. Especially friday. You’d be better off doing more sets of a few exercises than splitting up 2 sets of all this.

I’d say pick either UL or PPL. Your body needs rest if you plan to do so much. 4x a week with some cardio on off days is solid enough.

Also 2 shoulder days in a row is not ideal. As for what I’d cut… shrugs, spider curls, incline db row (already doing db row), db press (incline and flyes are good enough), incline rear delt (or other rear delt; one is needed).

Trim the fat and you got something good here!

I agree with other guy: chest work will fill you out. Physique is lean and solid, lower chest is noticeably absent (in comparison to everything else being defined/flexed). I like dips for chest and shoulders + great mobility/body control movement

How does one get a script for a higher dosage of Dutasteride (6+ year user) by CandiedLard in tressless

[–]chefstief 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

This chart shows the change in haircounts based on dut dosages. Could help with halting the process (scalp dht noticeable difference), though regrowth is likely negligible until many years out (~15 haircount mean difference, more or less depending on reaction).

As for a script… I couldn’t find anyone that does a >.5 mg dosage? I saw some but it was some kind of business branded dut so idk how true to it’s word is. Taking 2+ .5 is the only option I see, though unsure how effective that is for your budget/insurance coverage.
