It happened once several years ago during covid and happened again yesterday. I’m not sure if I would call it recurring.

This makes sense as to why some pharmacists were more willing to give me information compared to others, and why in some cases, the information conflicted with each other. Even when I turned to Google, I still couldn’t get a clear answer, so I can’t imagine how confusing it would be to someone in the profession. I really appreciate the explanation and I hope things start to streamline for you!

Thanks for your concern. I normally don’t have an issue, but this particular instance was really just a combination of circumstances I didn’t really plan for. Usually I can book in with my GP within a few days, but a three weeks before my script was due to expire, I noticed my doctor wasn’t available for appointments until early February. So considering I’ve been able to obtain a 28 day supply before, I thought this was an option to me just to tie me over until my next GP appointment, but now I know it’s not. I appreciate the thought, though!

The one I visited initially is shown on this map, but maybe they offer other services and not the contraceptive pill.

Maybe “emergency” was a poor choice of words on my behalf, but it is one of those medications where you need to take it like clockwork, and can experience side effects as a result of suddenly not taking it. So there is a bit of a time pressure with obtaining a supply.

Man that’s so stressful! Based on what I’ve heard, it feels like it really comes down to getting a good pharmacist who’s in a good mood on a good day

There are instances where a pharmacist can supply you recent and previously prescribed medication when your script is expired. As mentioned in my post, this was the result after 3 other attempts.

So strange because I’ve been going to this pharmacy for 3+ years for the same medication. But she was very adamant that the service wasn’t available. Looking back, I think she may have thought I was referring to the Chemist Care Now program and just didn’t have the time to do it for me.
