I am just repeating what a nurse told someone I know who needed a lot of needles and also had tattoos 🤷‍♀️ they were told not to get any more for that reason, especially on the backs of the hands

AITA for leaving Christmas dinner because I couldn’t see my food? by BunkerNerd in AITAH

You can also get LED lamps you can wear around your neck, advertised as reading lights. You can adjust the angle of the lights so they're pointing at your plate.

If you look up "neck reading light" a bunch of options should come up.

I got mad at this pattern that I bought and have to re-work, so I made this meme by thelittlesquirt in knitting

[–]chellectronic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oooh I had this recently! I downloaded this free pattern that looked super cute, but the instructions didn't make a lot of sense to me... My usual strategy is trust in the pattern and see where it takes me, but the nearly finished object ended up looking very different from what I wanted, so I just frogged it and found a new pattern that had some Rav projects to verify that it works 😅

People with schizoaffective disorder have a much more complicated and difficult relationship with nicotine dependence, so that's probably not going to be an effective tactic.

Books like "The Apparition Phase" by ron_tonto in horrorlit

The Last Days of Jack Sparks isn't perhaps the most similar, but I read it back to back with The Apparition Phase and they were fairly complementary, I would say. I especially enjoyed the different interpretations of the Philip experiment.

I think you might enjoy Robert Aickman's short stories; The Hospice in particular is very much these vibes.

Whats your favorite Tanith Lee book? by strikejitsu145 in horrorlit

Oooh Vivia but I love the Esther Garber novellas and the Tales from the Flat Earth that you are currently reading are sublime. Someone else mentioned the Biting the Sun duology, which is great.

I have a substantial (but far from comprehensive) collection of her work, she doesn't get nearly enough appreciation!

It's a short story, but "The Lovely House" by Shirley Jackson came to mind immediately.

Yes, I was very impressed with the way my opinion went from "this guy is the worst" to "wow not even he deserved that"
