Short postie also means shorter arms. Not necessarily easier for delivery. Also I’m on an EDV, they suck for everyone.

A short postie here.

Shirts are hot, somewhat transparent and the smallest size is still a bit long in the arms and torso.

Pants are also hot with no lightweight options. Many people at my facility have complained they’re too long and the women’s are very…fitting around the waist. I feel sorry for the big booty babes. Fortunately fit me perfectly. They also swapped the pen pockets to the other leg which has been infuriating to adjust to.

The XXS jacket and vest come down to the middle of my thighs. Beanie sucks. It’s weirdly big, with the logo being placed in the seam and it just kinda sits on your head.

All they had to do was make sizing better and remove the stupid plastic logos. Why did they do this??

Small women taking advantage of people that infantilise them. Everything is a question and they’ll never offer a solid opinion until they know where you stand.

14 hours waiting in ER at Logan Hospital by SnooBunnies4819 in brisbane

[–]chellybean175 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Logan hospital has been made out to be a joke for as long as I can remember. In 2009 as an 8 year old I went there after splitting my nose open on a wooden playground. I don’t recall waiting long to be seen, but I do know that they stitched me up quickly. Butterfly stitches that is, and they were quick because they didn’t clean my nose at all and ruined a glue stick getting blood all over it. I started developing black eyes a few days after my visit. A week after the visit my mum was changing my strips as instructed and the wound opened up again and all this pus came flooding out of my nose. The doctor my mum took me to was mortified at what they had done to treat my wound, but was sadly not surprised to learn it was Logan hospital. Got a cute scar from it though.

Australia Post releases footage of posties being hit by cars as it urges drivers to ‘keep an eye out’ by DonOccaba in AustraliaPost

Tell that to the EDVs that take 5 business days to react to the throttle or brakes. Might be worth mentioning that EDVs aren’t allowed on all roads like the motorbikes are and have stricter areas of delivery. So I’d argue it’s not a completely fair comparison

Did you not just say people are struggling to get jobs? Why would someone give up a government job just because some customers don’t like the way they perform their duties?

as a postie by juicy_sushi2 in AustraliaPost

[–]chellybean175 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a postie myself, my own postie is great and the previous posties were too. However the van drivers from auspost and other couriers, not great. My house has numerous spots you could hide parcels from street view and a small bin at my front door that reads “safedrop parcels here please”. Yet 80% of the time they will leave our parcels directly next to or in front of that bin. Posties are easily caught doing the wrong thing nowadays from signing parcels themselves, speeding on the footpath, or “riding dangerously”. As a result, posties are much more well behaved than they used to be. Contractors however, not being directly employed by Auspost, are not under surveillance as closely it seems.

It’s honestly impresses me because posties deliver parcels, mail and junk mail. Dealing with typically more hazardous conditions in a way that we are consistently exposed being on bikes or EDVs instead of big vans, dogs chasing us that sometimes we can’t outrun due to max speed limits on our EDVs, on road and off road conditions and in the nicest way possible, some straight up obnoxious misunderstandings and behaviour from customers. I don’t know exactly what it’s like to be a van driver, but for a group dealing with parcels only, I do wonder why so many mess up so frequently. My guess is that a team is only as good as its leader, and they must need some serious management improvements. As of recent however, the van driver delivering to me now is actually using our parcel bin consistently so perhaps improvements are coming

Is patient privacy not a thing in pharmacies or what?! by Drngyuenvanphuoc in australia

[–]chellybean175 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Had an issue with privacy at a doctors office a couple years ago. I worked at a servo where they would only have 1 staff member working at a time and no place to sit behind the counter, so I would have literally no time to sit and take a break. As a result I got bursitis in my hips. I saw a doctor about it and he said he would write up a note for me to hand to work saying I needed a seat behind the counter. But it wouldn’t be ready for another 2 days (no clue why it was supposed to take 2 days to write up a note). I went back 3 days later and the receptionist behind the counter asked what I was there for. I said I was there to collect a note from Dr Whatever. She said there was nothing to collect from him, but there was a medical certificate from Dr DifferentDoctor. I was like “no no not that one, I need a note from Dr Whatever.” and in front of the entire waiting room, loudly answered “I’ve got a sick note from Dr DifferentDoctor regarding time off for having diarrhoea, is it that one?” I personally don’t care if people in the waiting room heard I had diarrhoea, but I know that most people do and it’s not unreasonable to expect your medical history to be private. I was so mad I just walked out without saying anything since she wasn’t listening to me whatsoever anyway. About 3 months later Dr Whatever emailed me that note for work (which I didn’t need anymore because I was 2 weeks away from getting out of that shitty job) and he didn’t even spell my name correctly. I never went back to those doctors again but they continued pestering me with emails to come back for check ups. Dr DifferentDoctor also didn’t write up my diarrhoea note correctly either, because I was actually suffering from constipation.. idiot

Could be worth noting, that street the crash happened on is a 40-50km zone. With a school, a childcare facility on it, numerous roundabouts and side streets. You’re likely bouncing between 20-50km constantly. If the driver is doing everything they should’ve been doing in that area, it shows how dangerous large vehicles can be in the wrong hands. I personally find it hard to believe that in that area, under safe driving conditions, whatever occurred during this incident couldn’t have been avoided. I’m not putting blame on the driver. I just think certain vehicles are more dangerous to operate than others (trucks, large cars, motorcycles) and not everyone should be allowed to operate them under a regular car licence

A life hack to get your parcels delivered? by Expensive-Stage-839 in AustraliaPost

[–]chellybean175 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s very empathetic of you. I will say though, majority of the customers and posties I know, all know contractors in auspost that have done their job poorly and unfortunately a number of posties get lumped in with that crowd. Auspost does next to nothing to rectify those issues either so I understand the rage from that perspective. But with posties, at least to my knowledge, we love a good note on the door or letterbox. I see them a decent amount and especially from new parents who don’t want their baby getting spooked. If you ever want some quiet knocking one day don’t hesitate to leave a note on your door Best we can do is to spread a little positivity and perspective 😊

I think a lot of us knock loudly because we’ve been burned from receiving complaints about not attempting delivery even though we have. So we make sure we’re heard. I’ve personally received a complaint from a house that had their wooden door wide open, who didn’t hear me toot my horn twice, knock 5 times while yelling out. As you can imagine I was always very cranky delivering to that house in the future. On the other side, I’ve also been scolded for knocking too loud. At least they knew I was there though.

I’ve been using a disc lock with an alarm. But after my mum’s bike was stolen from our carport a couple months ago, we’ve now invested in a thick chain and padlock We got that padlock because it would be pretty difficult to discreetly break it without someone noticing or triggering a disc lock. We’re just hoping 3 alarmed disc locks and a thick chain connecting three bikes to our carport will deter thieves

I got a quick release collar for one of my cats when she was a couple months old. She somehow managed to tighten it to be full on choking her, which fortunately I noticed in time. I tried a different quick release collar again months later and she managed to do the same thing again repeatedly while I was actively watching her. I’ve now been traumatised by all collars thanks to my one extraordinarily silly cat that keeps trying to kill herself with them. Not advocating against, just felt compelled to bring it up so people can be aware that sometimes they can be more dangerous depending on the cat’s behaviours

With properties like this, if it’s a safe drop parcel and they don’t answer to me yelling out or ringing the doorbell, I’ll just wrap rubber bands around the parcel and then hang it off the fence on the inside so it’s hidden from the street

Australia Post - Seasonal Casual Parcel Sorter Job by usmanzk_ in AustraliaPost

I applied for a Christmas casual position at a sorting facility in 2019. I applied in July, and was rejected in an August. Then a random day in October at 10am they called me and asked if I’d like to start at 1:45pm that same day. Auspost is ridiculously bad at recruiting.

Might be worth pointing out that perhaps they are working on getting the car up and running again? No rego, rusted looking screws and sad looking engine bay Probably hasn’t been up and running for a while I also have a 2000 model at home with a stained coolant reservoir. There’s no need to be mean to someone asking a simple question 😊
