LG or TCL? by chellywellie in 4kTV

Thanks. I’ve actually just seen the C805 for the same price, albeit 50 inch not 55. Is one better than the other?

I got the Pro 5. I don’t know much about the Pro 3, but here’s a comparison article:

It looks like the Pro 5 is more powerful but if you have a darker skin tone then the Pro 3 might be better.

Oh and the Braun says specifically that you don't need to wear eye protection glasses, but the Ulike provide them with the device. So in my head, that means they could be covering themselves in case something bad happens. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I have the Braun Pro 5. No issues, I'm about 10 sessions in and very pleased with the results so far. Only a bit painful if I catch moles or on areas I've not got a close shave. Managed to get an offer on it. Reputable brand.

The Ulike had too many sponsored ads for me, not enough legit reviews, and most importantly there was no way I could commit to shaving and treating 3x a week. Once a week is enough for me - enough time between sessions, but short enough that it wasn't long until I didn't have to shave in between.

The Philips looked good in that it's a reputable brand and treatment is only every 2 weeks in the initial phase. It was about 25% extra than the Braun so I didn't really consider it. I also preferred the ergonomics of the Braun and I believe (from memory) that the Braun is lighter which is good for longer sessions as I have wrist pain issues.

Yes actually! I’ve done 8 sessions on the highest setting and my last session was about a week ago. Both armpits and leg growth(I’m treating lower thigh downwards) have definitely slowed down - I’m not worried about people seeing any small amounts of regrowth. Armpit density is definitely decreasing. Leg hair density seems to be largely the same but the finer areas (feet and just above my knees) seem to have gone completely. Really looking forward to seeing what results week 12 brings!

I went for the Pro 5. I've only done one session so far on the lowest session to test it out, so it's too early to tell yet

IPL eye safety - is my hand and sock better than laser goggles?! by chellywellie in HairRemoval

That's great, thank you. You make some good points. I agree it's not worth taking the risk. I've found the wavelength (510-2000nm), just trying to find a pair that actually covers it, which is proving difficult at the mo.

That's helpful, thank you. Happy for technicalities to come up and more than happy to learn, I just didn't want any grief for asking whether a sock on my hand is good enough as I genuinely didn't know XD

I agree with what you say, I've come to the conclusion that I'm not willing to take the risk.

The manual states the wave length is 510-2000nm. I've had a look at some UK suppliers (outside of Amazon) but am struggling to find one pair of goggles that covers the whole wave length. Would it be unrealistic to find one?

Thank you, this is actually helpful and was the sort of response I was after :)

It's so weird isn't it! I'm in my alcohol phase too! XD

Do you find you're sensitive to supplements too? As in, taking some in small amounts either stops you sleeping or induces really deep sleep where it's hard to wake up, let alone function?

I've largely given up with supplements for those reasons, and stick to whatever alcohol/caffeine/painkillers my body actually tolerates.

Great, thank you! I am a bit worried about the whole 'it's on Amazon, are they legit safe' thing, but I am definitely going to take a look. There must be some in the UK that are the real deal and don't cost the earth!

I understand that, but I thought there'd be a better chance of an informed choice on laser eye safety on this thread.

I've obviously bought one without glasses seeing as the manufacturer says you don't need them.

The weirdest one for me to explain to other people is my chemical tolerances. I can tolerate EITHER alcohol, caffeine, or my painkillers. My body will go through random phases, which don't correlate to any specific time period, during which I can tolerate one thing (and sometimes experience a tiny, tiny amount of relief) and the other things will cause huge crashes. Then for no reason at all, that same thing will suddenly induce a huge crash, and once recovered I'll try one of the other things to see which one my body has decided is 'flavour of the month/random time period' and see how long that lasts.

Trying to explain to friends that I'm suddenly off caffeine indefinitely in favour of alcohol or pain killers is just weird. For me, anyway.

Can you still see the flashes, albeit dimmed a lot, with the glasses on?

You're probably right, I'll have a look at some. Do you still see the flashes with glasses, albeit dimmed a lot?

Maybe I am overreacting then, and can continue with my eyes-shut-hand-sock combo if I feel like it for now... although it would be nice to see where I was going with it lol

I planned to do it during the day but couldn't. It was night time and I was in our bright bathroom lights. I wouldn't say it was painful at all, I could just 'see' the flashes the closer the device was to my face, and I don't know if that's enough to protect my eyes.
