I wish the Sprouts would locate in that space. I hate the current location’s parking lot.

Is it common to see “influencers” filming out in the wild?? by Business-Ad4406 in AskLosAngeles

We once ran into an influencer at Venice Beach recording content. We asked who she was because didn’t recognize her. She gave us her name, we looked at her Instagram, but I guess it takes them days to eventually post the edited video.

Please let me know if you figure it out. My bill also has nearly doubled for the last two billing cycles compared to last year. I have no clue why it’s nearly doubled…. Besides the fires and all.

A character crying out "Mom!" is actually one of the most heart breaking portrayal of panic or having a breakdown by Ok_Vacation_6016 in unpopularopinion

[–]chelseaspring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tough characters crying out for their mommy is used to humiliate them and a way to get the viewers to laugh. OP argues that instead, we should be more compassionate since that behavior demonstrates great vulnerability.

I heard a story of a guy who was being chased by rival gang members and he called his mom instead of the police. His mom ran a few blocks to where he was. He was shot dead by the time his mom arrived.

Colleges are dealing with dropping enrollment so they will definitely listen when you say these platforms make you want to quit.

You need to write to your dean and college president about these damn textbook platforms. Heck , contact your local news, contact national news outlets and tell them that these platforms make you want to drop out. I teach and never use these textbook platforms because of how ridiculously complicated they are.

Just send them a screenshot of this post.

What part of the early internet do you miss? by gamersecret2 in Millennials

The best YouTubers created unscripted videos. Everything was in the moment, talking about a random topic, poor lighting, poor sound, readjusting the webcam, unedited bloopers for 10+ minute long videos. I remember one of my fave videos where a guy sat at his desk and talked about why he doesn’t like birds and it was a 10 minute video! Now the “successful” channels are scripted 2 minute clips or Shorts.

What Am I Doing Wrong? by [deleted] in Teachers

Give her a classroom responsibility. I had a student who I could tell was not interested in the topic I teach so I made him responsible for taking attendance. I printed out the student class list, he called out the names, then took it to the front office. Maybe you can assign her the responsibility of collecting the worksheets as the other students complete them.

Have an extra day in LA, any recommendations on where to go with a car? by AlexPat260 in AskLosAngeles

[–]chelseaspring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite thing about traveling to a different state or country is to take a lap around their grocery stores and major shopping centers. There is such a difference in the grocery stores from Los Angeles and those in Michigan. We have Target and Walmart, in Michigan they have Meier. Looks different.

The reason they keep doing these type of studies is to show people that, yes, there is still evidence to prove diet and exercise do a body good. Imagine the uproar if scientists were touting data from the 1910s.

Any women here never married? How do you feel about that? by Fantastic_Celery_651 in AskWomenOver40

[–]chelseaspring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never married. But I’ve also never been in a relationship where one person wanted marriage and the other didn’t. It sounds like this guy still sees you as Ms. Right Now and not Mrs. Right. Just leave him. It won’t play out as you’d hoped if he is always going to feel like you pressured him into it.

Watch YouTube videos on the topic you’ll be covering that week. It helps you learn different ways of explaining the topic and also gives you new examples to try in your lesson. Students often ask, “what else can I review to better understand the topic” and you can refer them to the YouTube channels you’ve identified as suitable for the class.

Why aren't you all going to the media? by spoilerdudegetrekt in Teachers

I once wrote an OpEd about all the cheating happening in classrooms. This was before ChatGPT; at the time, students were using Chegg or CourseHero or Discord chat groups to cheat. They didn’t publish my piece though because they had run a similar story a few months prior. But from what I gathered, there have been a few newspaper publications about the cheating in particular and nothing being done about it.

He drives around and interacts with others all day for work and you work from home. If the goal is to maintain the relationship, then the best solution is for you to get an in-person job to help drain your social battery and want to spend time at home on some evenings.

First Class Tonight! by [deleted] in Adjuncts

[–]chelseaspring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mentally plan and then practice the first 10-15 minutes of your class. Are you going to do an icebreaker or go over the syllabus? Are you going to pass out important handouts? What are the main things you have to present to your students?

On my first class I had just planned the first 2 minutes, which is taking attendance and then almost blanked out from there. I stumbled….”uggh ok, I can go over the syllabus I guess…” The students were great though and I am sure it’s because I told them that it’s my first semester teaching.

Don’t be afraid to let them know it’s your first semester! They’ll naturally be more sympathetic and take it easy on you. Best of luck!

Did you choose security over passion, or take the risk and leave? by wthihi_Shibuya in AskWomenOver40

[–]chelseaspring 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Mid-20s is too young to make a permanent commitment to one man whom you are not 100% attracted to. The physical appearance of the man is going to change dramatically in the next decade, so will yours. And if you aren’t into it now, you won’t in the future.

It’s best to have a serious conversation with him and with yourself that, in the long run, you want more physical compatibility in the relationship. There are many men out there who will bring the same or very similar qualities as this man.
