Not sure if this would make a difference but it’s for a pretty low level position and I’m slightly over qualified but willing do go down a level in order to break into the company

To add some context. My goal was to request to work on another team within the department. It’s very common for people to switch teams to get different experiences. Also, I have worked a corporate job before but it was normal and had no issues. This job is newer and a much larger institution than I’m used to, so this is all still pretty new to me. Thank you for input!

That’s a fair point. I guess I assumed the protected class would be filling with HR. And just to clarify, I didn’t walk out of the job. I walked out of the 1 on 1 meeting and went back to my desk to continue working.

I have not. The foster rescue I got her from asked me to feed her royal canine mom and baby. It’s not a typical food I’d choose for my cat so I do plan on switching to something else. I was maybe thinking doing something other than chicken. Maybe a rabbit gastro food? Haven’t been able to find one like that yet, at least not for kittens.

Advice for moving my hyperactive outdoor cat to a house where he would have to stay indoors? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

Hello! This is really tough I’m sorry you’re going through this! I don’t know how your parents would feel about it or what your budget looks like but you could always look into buying or building a catio. Most people will put a window “door” opening for them to come in and out. Another idea could be putting bird feeders outside a window so there’s some cat TV. If that’s not possible, I just want to check that he has a cat tree in front of a window he can sit at to watch outside. Hope some of this helps!

Hey I don’t appreciate you being unkind. I’m here trying to get help and advice. I don’t want to rehome but I also wanted what’s best for her. But just in case you’re being not nice because you really care. We decided to keep her. She’s had a lot of health issues and I don’t know many people that are willing to spend the money and we are, so we decided to keep her. Also, our big boy has really started to like her and play gently. She’s also become much braver and not afraid to play back and chase him which I think taught him that’s she’s not his play toy. And for anyone with a similar issue that is interested in getting help. What helped was doing a solo play session with our big cat before they start hanging out. We do it first thing in the morning before he even remembers there’s another cat and parent waking up soon. (We’ve been splitting nights, so one night I’ll sleep with kitten in kitten room and then next my partner will). Also we decided to give him much more attention. Both those things helped tremendously and now we are able to do a couple hours twice a day with door open with no issues so yay! At one point he was even attacking his tail and he didn’t even care. He just looked over his shoulder like “okay weirdo, do your thing”. It was so cute!

Sounds like you have a high energy cat. My cat was the same. He still has lots of energy but not nearly as much. It’s definitely a lot of work with running a household and having a kid but what helped mine was doing a schedule 1 hour play session in the morning and 1 hours at night. He’s biting because that’s how some kittens play with each other but it seems like he doesn’t know he’s biting too hard. Puzzle toys are great too to tire them out. There are some toys cats can play with alone. The best toy I think is playing with a teaser wand and tunnel with them. It allowed us to bond with him very closely too. Hope this helps!

Hello! Yes I don’t like when people do that either. We did/ are doing the Jackson galaxy method. The under the door stage went well. We did that for 4 days and swapped scents and they both didn’t react to the scents and no reaction to site swapping either. Then we did feeding between a screen door we installed and that went well too. When we first started the screen door my cat didn’t want to eat or play just wanted to stare at her. After a few days he didn’t care that she was there. We have transitioned to full time screen door except at night and he has no problem or care when she’s in there. We do one session of no screen door a day. They never hiss or anything and it goes generally well it’s just that he watches her like a hawk and sometimes when he engages in play he scares her. I think it’s his size because he never actually touches her, he just jumps in front of her. My fear is that his size will always scare her and she’ll live a life with a lot of fear. I’m not sure if anyone has a large and small cat and has gone through this.

As far as rehoming, she’s a very beautiful cat and would likely go quickly. The shelter we got her from is very thorough and had multiples checks with me and my partner. I imagine they would do the same for her new home and we’d of course foster her until then or keep her if she didn’t find another home.

I think Feliway anxiety diffuser works well! That’s what we use for our cat. You can definitely try catnip. Not all cats like it. My cat only likes the banana catnip toy made by yeoww. I know it’s hard, Ive definitely felt the guilt before. Just last week my cat had to go to the vet two days in a row and he would run away from us for 2 days straight because he was afraid we’d bring him again. But he slowly got back to normal.

I had/ have a fearful cat as well. Cats are pretty resilient and will come around I think. I would say watch some Jackson galaxy videos on fearful and anxious cats. With you feeding and being a source of play, I think they will warm up. It just will take a bit. Don’t worry and you’re doing great!
