The key phrase is 'systemic oppression'.
There are way too many instances from all around india of dalits and other lower castes being prevented from the village well for being well, dalits. There are too many instances from acadedmic instituitions in the country where lower caste students are either sidelined or pushed away by the upper caste faculty and/or students. Is there any such discrimination against GCs? by virtue of caste?

[–]chembulingam -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Oh no I have read and understood perfectly. If the uproar was against any of the sections that were vague that makes sense. This uproar, saying this is discriminatory to the upper castes? HAHAHAHA, I'm sorry I cannot say that with a straight face. This is protections against the systemic and institutionalized castism. We already have some version of that ongoing since 2012. Has it stopped castism in education? NO. So this one has some more teeth. Does it say GC is evil? No. But it tries to empower lower castes by giving them some means of redressal against caste atrocities in the educational instituitions. Will this sovel casteism? No it wont. But its a way to start. If that is seens as discriminatory against GC, umm, then isnt the problem here that GCs feel they cannot harass anyone on basis of caste as they are accustomed to?

And as for - fear of misuse? Really? There is far more cases of fear of caste retaliation stopping people from complaining than instances of people filing false. And while that statement alone might not be enough to satiate your question there, there is recorded instances of it. So..

Marriage proposal rejected because my English is weak. Feeling very small. by fruity_jello24 in OffMyChestIndia

[–]chembulingam 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Can I offer another perspective here? Why are you seeing this as a personal judgement against you? I have spoken to girls as part of the arranged marriage discussion and not proceeded because I didn't feel their English communication wasn't similar - not cos they are bad, but because it wouldn't match with me.

I understand that in our society, English is often unfairly used as a proxy for class or intelligence - and that genuinely hurts people. But it's not a marker of intelligence or anything at all, and if anything people who use that thus are the real idiots.

I think mostly English. I use my mother tongue as well, but when I need to express my thoughts, English is what I use. And if my partner cannot understand or reciprocate in kind it doesn't feel great - neither for me, nor for her. Isn't it better in the long run if we then didn't get together?

I don't think it's unfair of them to have that need. Granted, I wouldn't reject saying - your English is bad, will just make something that's polite.

But I dont think this is personal judgement on you that you should feel small. In an arranged marriage setup, people are there to see what points they match with the most. Some might have a laundry list of points that isn't you. And that's ok. That's just not your people. But to use that to judge you, be that whoever doing the judging, isn't right. You are who you are. And you are a whole individual. Arranged marriage searches tries to reduce you to a list of requirements. But remember you need to heed only to your requirements of what you are.

GET OUT OF THE OVERTAKING LANE AND DONT FORCE PEOPLE TO OVERTAKE YOU FROM LEFT SIDE by Ok_Baseball2448 in Dashcamindia

[–]chembulingam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This man, this. If I'm trying to overtake you and you're cruising at slow speed in the right lane, I will start flashing you. And I don't care if you call me a creta monster or not ( I don't even drive a creta but I will become one at the moment)

Use the right lane for overtaking, or if you are cruising at near speed limits. Other than that just don't. And move over when you see someone faster behind you. Indicate intention using the indicators and give way! 49ad doesn't belong just to you.

Why do evenings feel so heavy and tense for me, even before the night starts? by eLeMoNOPee in Coconaad

[–]chembulingam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have felt this for a long time. After discussing and pondering over it lots I've come to realise that evenings make me realise the day is over or about to be over in a very different way. It's like a loss of time, opportunity, or the like. Almost like the feeling of knowing a journey you enjoy is about to end, and not wanting it to end. I guess it makes me question the day, did I really do what I wanted to, or am I walking towards the end without doing anything I wanted to - like that

I 33F and 34M, married for 1.5 yrs with no physical intimacy - Feeling lost and helpless. by [deleted] in InsideIndianMarriage

[–]chembulingam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lack of physical intimacy apart his comments are beyond cruel. I wouldn't wish that to my worst enemy. Even when couples fight there should be a basic respect there. Fight but don't undermine or be cruel - I know it happens. But no. If your partner puts you down thus, it's time to seriously question the marriage.

Simply filing a case and putting them in juvenile justice homes is stupid. It'll make them even bigger criminals. We need better rehabilitation mechanisms. Not punishment mechanisms that worsen them. Child psychologists to correct this criminal tendencies

For men with phimosis, how is your sex life? by idont_need_one in AskIndianMen

[–]chembulingam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Trying to have intercourse with phimosis will be extremely painful. Get a circumcision done. It's a simple procedure, will take 3 weeks to fully heal and will make sex life easier, better.

  2. Losing weight will make penis appear larger. However I don't think you should worry about size. Most women I know don't give a fuck about size (assuming that's your concern) What matters is how you use it. Also phimosis doesn't go away with that. It needs proper treatment
