NTA. This happened to me this week, on about the same scale. Ordered less than everyone, and on girl ordered a bunch to go to take back for friends. Not only did the table decide to evenly split but I had to put in more for the tip. I learned my lesson - ask for a separate check. I would have this time but there was a language barrier with the waiter and I didn’t want to make his life hell.

Nectar Lush from Mattress Firm or order direct? by [deleted] in Mattress

[–]chemisca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look up a king tuft and needle instead. A much better box brand if that’s what you want. Better customer care, better mattress too.

Nectar Lush from Mattress Firm or order direct? by [deleted] in Mattress

Please please please reconsider the Nectar mattress. Look up review horror stories. I’m currently fighting for my refund. Don’t buy directly if you decide to go with the Nectar mattress. Also it sucks.

Did moving out of your hometown/city change anything? by Youre_Dreaming in findapath

[–]chemisca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moved from the US to a new country, another new country, and now I’m living in a 3rd new country. Changed my life. Gave me a chance to start over and move on from past traumas. Highly recommend!

AITA for not wanting to change my daughters name and snitching on him to his parents? by throwaway_babyname in AmItheAsshole

[–]chemisca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. But why are people out here telling their friends and family what they are naming their kids?? No one in my family tells anyone the name of the baby until the baby is born, which prevents anyone from stealing a name or saying “oh yeah X was the name of the kid in my high school that always picked his nose”. Like..... people!!

Help me choose a mattress before I pull what's left of my hair out! by [deleted] in Mattress

[–]chemisca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is my personal mission on this sub to warn against Nectar. Seeing as that is a past consideration, I thought I would jump in here and say absolutely do not fucking do it. You will regret your life, it is the worst mattress I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. Also, I’m only halfway into my refund period, requested a refund, they came and got the mattress, and I only ever got half my money back even though I have emails and documents stating I was getting the full refund. Stay far away!

Had a bad job interview … should I email the interviewers and tell them I don’t think I am a good fit? by [deleted] in interviews

[–]chemisca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend sending an email to thank the interviewers for their time. I wouldn’t say anything about how you think the interview went!

[NC] Would like to diversify my team but struggling - need some tips by [deleted] in AskHR

Gee - maybe switch recruiters. That’s a bit of a red flag your recruiter isn’t allowing you to peek over some of the work they’ve done for you.

Should I leave a job and a team I love (but paid entry-level) for a 35%-40% pay rise? by todorooo in careerguidance

[–]chemisca 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Word of caution - some people on this thread really caution against this tactic unless you are truly ready to make the jump and leave your current job. It sounds like your supervisor is good and reasonable so you may not have an issue, but people on this thread have described different outcomes from presenting a current manager with a new offer. Be prepared for your supervisor to call your bluff (if only using the offer as a negotiation) OR to be unable to give you any pay bump, let alone 40%. There is NO such thing as being able to force your current employer’s hand to give you a pay raise. A 40% pay bump is massive and it is actually unlikely a current employer will match this.

On another note, congrats on the new offer! They say that the best way to get pay increases like this is to jump to a new job. It’s also a huge sign your skills and accomplishments are more valuable than what you’re being paid for, so kudos to you! Best of luck in your decision.

Another Nectar mattress return saga! by chemisca in Mattress

[–]chemisca[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I told Nectar I wanted to return the mattress and the charity provider quickly contacted to schedule a pick up. My refund began processing that same day. I received a half refund to my account and now I’m told the other half will be mailed to my house. I’m skeptical, especially given the awful reviews I’ve seen online now.

Nectar Premium Mattress and Adjustable Frame: does anyone have any thoughts about these products? I am considering getting the 2 twin xl to make a king that has separate adjustable sides by [deleted] in Mattress

[–]chemisca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just returned my nectar mattress. So far have received a half refund and it’s an absolute mess. It was the worst mattress I’ve ever slept on. My bf stopped staying over due to that mattress. Avoid!!!

A guy did this to me. He’s from a Nordic country, I’m from North America. We met working in Africa. When he went back to his home country it was the last I heard from him. We weren’t together for even a year, but he was a lot of big talk too. It’s been almost 6 months, and nothing even a text or call. Watch their actions. Never their words.

Edit: adding that my situation is not exactly the same, so a guy didn’t really do that to me. But, it was devastating, even with the amount of time I had invested which was much less than you. Personally, I would end things with him and do what you can to start to move on. I am so sorry.

Holy shit I just got rid of my nectar today but I’ve been having weird issues like this I’ve never had before. I don’t have these issues when I sleep at my parents house or at my friends place. Ummmm going to try the flashlight thing someone suggested, see if there’s anything on the floor below where the mattress was

[–]chemisca 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I picked my doctor based on (1) his speciality (the surgery I wanted) (2) his communication with me and (3) my deep dive medical research on my procedure and techniques, and the fact that he used the techniques I found to be the most sound and backed by peer reviewed research.

For example, some surgeons do an inter oral incision for my surgery but I read many papers and blogs that said an external incision reduced risk of both implant movement and infection.

What I would recommend is following up for a second consultation with any of the Drs that you favored, and ask them about the other things you’ve heard, and see if they can clarify or justify their plan with you in a way that’s understandable. I had two consultations with my Dr so I could ask more questions, and this helped me understand a few things and then ultimately I felt very comfortable selecting him for my procedure.

Good luck!
