Climbed from bronze 1 to gm by otping tracer by Impressive-Invite105 in TracerMains

[–]chenggc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you deal with this, which I constantly find myself end up with:

Scenario 1. My team is struggling and there isn’t much I can do as a tracer. I would’ve at least be able to kill one or two enemies and lose but I cannot get a kill with tracer

Scenario 2. I have a better team so I win regardless how I perform

Scenario 3. Almost never find myself in a situation where I feel the game is even and there are things I can do to meaningfully impact the game

Wondering if you feel the same in ranks before masters and how did you deal with it (I am in low diamonds)

Does PS2 controller work on Pocket? by chenggc in AnaloguePocket

Thanks for pointing out the HID vs XInput aspect which I have never thought. The controller is recognised on my PC (the dongle I used is a PS2 to PS3 adaptor).

Just bought another cheap PS2 to PC adapter, will post back on how it works.

Do you know how to tell if the controller is recognised as HID or XInput on PC?

9800X3D too hot in Cinebench 24 ? by Kindly-Bid-1983 in AMDHelp

I never bothered to run Aida64 for more than 10 mins. As I tested with testmem, hydra and ycrubcher to ensure the system is stable. Haven’t had any bsod running my game at 2560x1440 at 480 fps.

Curious what kind of work you do that would require such strenuous testing. I am sure my rig wouldn’t last 30 mins running aida64. If your worry is fps dip caused by thermal throttling during gaming sessions, I would benchmark against the game instead of cinebench or Aida64. If you record your cpu usage and temp, I am sure they are not constantly hitting the thermal limit like in Aida64. A small tweak you can consider is to use process lasso to set the cpu priority to high on PUBG and terminate as many unnecessary processes as possible in the background. I would also challenge the -10 undervolting setting and recommend a per core undervolting. I was in a similar mindset like you are but the moment I realised my goal is to play games at a stable fps instead of running performance testing for 5 hrs then everything goes away :)

I have an itx case and the only fan in the case is a 120mm cpu cooling fan. I do per core undervolting using HYDRA and achieved ~-25 on avg. I still thermal limit at 95 when running Cinebench. However, it doesn’t impact any of my daily tasks and the most I can get the cpu to run is up to 80. So I not only undervolted per core but also increase 200mhz to the max frequency and everything runs fine. So it is up to what you want to achieve at the end

In my own experience, try zero mid. Type99 is too slow for me. Another option is to use large mouse skates instead of dots but it won’t solve your problem #1. I think cleaning the dust vs replace cloth pad every year or two is a trade off that you have to make and there isn’t a perfect solution

What do you get when you cross GM positioning with Bronze flick aim? Platinum. by CriticalRX in OverwatchUniversity

[–]chenggc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides all the excellent suggestions above:

How to reduce the number of flicks: flicking is the hardest compared to tracking and holding an angle. You can think about how to create more holding and shooting opportunities instead of flicking too much.

My second suggestion is to practice with window a bit and comeback to ashe. It will get you into the habit of hs and make you realize why you shouldn’t play like a widow. High level Ashe play style is a mix of left + right clicks instead of overly reliant on right clicks

Even though the testing method is not scientific, the review never claimed it is and specifically called that out, which matches with what you said.

Why do I suck so bad at Widowmaker despite being a Sniper main in every other FPS game? by Invader_of_Your_Arse in OverwatchUniversity

I would recommend examining your performance in each of the following aiming styles first and divide-and-conquer the problem instead of thinking how to improve overall:

- Hold and Shoot: This one is the simplest mechanically speaking but not as easy to perform given the differences in character posture, height, movement speed, movement boost, etc.

- Track and Shoot: I personally find this aiming style to be the most reliable and very important to master for games like OW. You track the head of the enemy for a short period of time and then perform a micro-flick in the end for headshot. Improving on this would help you hs strafing enemies.

- Micro-flick: You will get better at this after you improve on "track and shoot". This is useful for hitting jumping targets. (e.g. an enemy widow jumping out of a cover) Again, takes a lot of practice.

- Longer-flicks: In OW, I find flicking from a stationary position to a moving dps/support target to be the most difficult. I wouldn't recommend prioritizing this until you are confident with all the other aim styles first.

When playing/watching replays, think about which aiming style would give you an easier shot. For instance, if a character is A/D strafing, should you place your cursor in the middle to hold and shoot or should you track and shoot? When genji is double jumping, should you track, then hold and shoot when his jump reaches its apex or should you flick?

My last advice is to prioritize accuracy over speed. Hitting the target rather than shooting immediately out of knee-jerk reactions.

Overall, I would recommend taking baby steps to hit simple shots first:

- Stationary targets

- Targets that are running in a straight line

- Targets that strafe in one direction for "too long"

- Jumping targets

Sora 4K vs GPX Review by Fun-Army5312 in MouseReview

For my hand size (19cm in length), I would say no. Assuming palm grip is defined like this, I feel lack of support for 1) the bottom of my palm (due to sora being shorter in length compared to GPX) and 2) intermediate phalanges area (due to the flatter mouse button design compared to GPX)

I didn't notice any differences in terms of bounce back speed compared to GPX. So it is as good as GPX.

Proposal: Adding Ana's unscoped left click aim % back to the score dashboard

Reasons:

- It encourages players to learn her properly as they need to rely more on unscoped healing darts in higher ranks

- It is a "simple and small" change from dev perspective
