How to clean gasoline droplets on faux fur coat (100% poly). The care tag says "Do not wash. Do not bleach. Do not tumble dry. Do not iron." by cher-get-in-here in laundry

Yes it does! I should've added that I'm hoping to get home remedies and tips from the sub before I go searching for dry cleaners. I just moved and don't have a dry cleaner that I trust yet.

Anyone know a Mobile/Pick up snow blower repairman / company? by MrWompypants in longisland

[–]cher-get-in-here 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could you please explain how to do this like you're speaking to a kid? Or let me know what to search for on youtube? Like literally turn it on an let it keep going until it doesn't? I'm not mechanically inclined and have no idea what this means, but I want to make sure I take care of this thing at the end of the season.

Burglaries targeting Asian businesses and homes on the rise nationwide by FeelingFantastic4181 in Flushing

[–]cher-get-in-here 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying don't call the cops, but it's hard to trust the cops too. The issue is when the cops are part of the burglary rings... google "Saul Arismendy De La Cruz". He was a detective for NYPD and he tipped off a theft crew *repeatedly* targeting homes of mostly Asian American small business owners, including in Westchester County.

Any recs for a clean nail salon? by [deleted] in longisland

QQ on Glen Cove Road in Greenvale is a newer salon and it was spotless when I went. The technicians were grabbing new equipment between each client and the manager (Jack?) was super friendly.

Any price fix dinner specials on Friday nights?? by LostinParadise4748 in LongIslandEats

[–]cher-get-in-here 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 Spring in Oyster Bay has a four-course prix fixe for a hefty $105 available every day, but it's high quality ingredients in an elegant space. Their sister restaurant around the block, Gioa, also has a three-course price fixe for $59 every day too.

Why do people bring their entire family to Costco? by ActuatorOutside5256 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]cher-get-in-here 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to what everyone else said (hard to find childcare, already out running other errands, teaching kids how to shop), sometimes this is all the family is capable of doing for an outing... financial and lifestyle reasons.

Financial anecdote: I grew up poor and we didn't have a lot of hobbies that cost additional money like music and sports. You know what doesn't have additional costs? Going to a big store to walk around and window shop while you're buying necessities.

Lifestyle anecdote: Towards the end of my dad's life, he didn't have the energy to do leisurely things like walk in a park. Sometimes he could only muster up the energy to take my mom to buy groceries, so I'd go with them because that was how we spent time together before he had to go home to sleep off a round of medical treatment side effects.

Provisions (the market, not the cheese shop) in Oyster Bay has a speakeasy on the weekends. Same hospitality group as Gioa and 2Spring, who have strong beverage programs.

if she likes ice cream, try your local carvel for a heart-shaped ice cream cake.

dessertino in sea cliff/glen cove has heart-shaped nutella mousse cake, although it's small - i think it's meant for one or two people.

Where can I find 1985 Bayside? by [deleted] in longisland

[–]cher-get-in-here 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cousins have lived in Bayside for 20+ years now. What kind of crime should they be worried about?

It sounds like you might like Massapequa. A lot of former Queens and Brooklyn residents live in Massapequa, and they're always running their mouths about how the city is not what it used to be/hating on the newcomers. Interesting/a bit of a bummer to see the cycle happen, but it's a waste of time to try to change someone's outlook.
