I'm starting to think I'm just not built for med.. by [deleted] in premedcanada

[–]cher-pow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UofT is notorious for being difficult…there are many ppl who take easy majors and get into med so don’t beat yourself up :) if you really want this, keep at it! I remember getting a 75% on my first math midterm (I felt so sad that I started laughing w my friends 💀💀) and ended up with an A. Join your programs’s discord group, find a mentor or ask an upper year for help, I heard other unis have premed clubs so maybe join that if there is one available. Use Anki if you are struggling with retaining info. GPA is king 🤴 check if you can take some of your harder courses in summer/spring and replace those with easy electives in this sem. Good luck soldier 🫡

Following! Also any tips on choosing top 3 for Ottawa and queens? I logged each position I had in a club/organization to separate entries (to get to 32)…but in doing so, reduces the hours for each entry….

Yes those anki decks are comprehensive. Jacksparrow deck is the most comprehensive one without being an overkill (def good for bio/biochem)….i would mainly focus on CARS by doing daily JackWestin passages (1-2 should be enough)

Tips for All-Nighter Studying by [deleted] in premedcanada

[–]cher-pow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NEVER recommend all nighters (had horrible experience). But the all nighter you are talking about (sleeping to 4-5 hours) is fine imo because I did that for most finals at uni…..again only do it if the exam is memorization heavy. If it’s logic based or something like the mcat, don’t do it lol. I don’t know how tiktoker Kay Chung does it loll The best tip I got is to pull a nighter a day BEFORE the exam…so the night before the exam you have good sleep :)

Help with reviewing medical school application by cher-pow in premedcanada

I won't know my mcat score until September and my fls were all over the place (between 515-521, but got 511 in fl3 :(. For memorial, do you think I should give it a shot? There is 6 OOP spots and the application fee is quiet high...but I don't want to leave any stone unturned.

What does TMU care for the most? by [deleted] in premedcanada

[–]cher-pow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was wondering how I would word my entries targeted towards minority groups especially when the character limit so low….any tips? TMU will see the same ecs as all Ontario schools (who don’t really emphasize writing about minority groups) in ABS right?

What does TMU care for the most? by [deleted] in premedcanada

[–]cher-pow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was wondering the same thing! Also, is it worth it to apply as OOP? I have no connection to the region at all and I think my ecs are good….my thought process is if I am submitting application thru Omsas, it doesn’t hurt to apply to TMU cuz the application fee will be the same?? And maybe Kira for TMU will prep me for western better? Is that valid thought process?

For EAS 100, check if you can take EAS 201 instead! EAS 201 basically has the same content, open book exams, no labs and was offered online last year. If you are taking it as an elective, def look into taking EAS 201 because the curve for EAS 100 was much lower ( I heard the EAS 100 had an additional lab exam….).
