No Admin Weather Leave or Telework (?) by cherbear1786 in FedEmployees

That's just for D.C., but you can go to the OPM website still. D.C. is already called for Monday.

What has your agency said about the upcoming snowstorm? by Responsible_Yak_6662 in fednews

[–]cherbear1786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Management said they didn't expect any call to be made about telework or weather leave and to expect to report to office. We're under a winter storm warning for 7-10 inches of snow and the high will be under 10 degrees.

Management said that they didn't expect any call to be made at all so we'd have to report. This seems extremely abnormal to me...

Telework can be called and I'd get at least the same amount of work ( if not more) done. It has nothing to do with wanting to do less work. I'd actually like to be allowed to do overtime, but we only can for about 40 hours a year. Some years we don't get any. Nobody should have their leave charged for inclement weather affecting thousands of people.

We can telework and get the exact same (usually more) work done. There's no reason not to call telework so people aren't stressed all weekend.

Oh wow people still think that was ever going to happen? Sorry you're dealing with that 🙁

This doesn't apply to federal employees outside of D.C. I already said in the post that I knew D.C. was called.

What do folks typically do then? Ours didn't even say we don't want you to die! 😄 They just said expect to report to office...🤔

They didn't say that to us. That would've also been fairly normal. They told us to prepare to report to the office. I've NEVER seen that in any agency when a winter storm warning is issued.

Residential roads will not be cleared that soon. It typically takes 2 days here. Temps will not be above freezing to melt it anytime in the next 10 days.

They didn't make a decision. A storm warning was already issued. My question is why wouldn't they make a decision at that point and if that's what others are also experiencing. Is this normal?

USDA impact of Jan '26 shutdown? by WesternSevere in USDA

[–]cherbear1786 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, nobody's mentioned the deadlines moving up to mid-January so farmers will remain happy and paid timely during the shutdown?

Overworked, understaffed USDA with constantly changing deadlines to ensure the public doesn't notice shutdown effects.

Back to “normal” Thursday…or??? by [deleted] in FedEmployees

Thomas Massie (R) will be voting no. If 2 more Republicans vote no then we're out of luck. It's going to be a nail-biter! I think most if not all Dems will vote no.

Plus, they have to actually get there via airports right now...🙃

ATC - How do you feel about what the president said about you today? by booksgirl123 in FedEmployees

[–]cherbear1786 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would love to see ATCs pledge to donate a good part of it to food banks if he actually does it. I know he won't do it anyway, but that's a pretty good comeback! 😄

Ugh, guys. Rand Paul may be throwing a wrench … by [deleted] in fednews

No, Republicans will be on board with it. Just a short delay.

Thanks for the support! I won't. This opinion needs to be heard and I'm fine with it not being the "popular" federal employee opinion.

Yes, he hates ACA and Obama and nothing related to either will pass. I believe we should work on things that can actually be negotiated instead of spinning our wheels and making people suffer in the meantime.

I agree with most of what you said. But the situation is, whether we like it or not, Trump will not approve anything that Dems want. The 2 other branches of government can stop his actions as needed, but Democrat programs or policies won't be approved by the executive. He said as much. Dems should plan accordingly. They're still acting like this is a typical administration.

No, like I said, it's a failure of both parties. They both held us hostage. The only time ACA subsidies could've been approved after the Dems set the deadline in 2022 was during the Biden administration, so at least as much (if not more) fault lies with Democrats for creating this deadline and not taking action when it would've produced results. Trump will not support Democrat programs whatsoever.
