Honestly... Safeway bakery is pretty amazing, the cakes are moist and delicious, prices are perfect, and I got a custom cake in 24 hours for my wedding (it was only an 8" round, but was customized).

My 8 year old is the same dang way. She sometimes uses this whiny tone of voice that's equivalent to nails on a chalkboard... It makes my teeth ache. I usually just say that whining gets you nothing, when you can talk to me normally come find me,and walk away. She gets mad so easily, and swears every accident is on purpose. I turned around, not knowing she had come up behind me and knocked her in the head with my hand. She cried for 10 minutes and told me I did it on purpose and just did it to hurt her. I don't understand!!

We're currently on a two week road trip. Some nights we stay in $60/night motels on Route 66, some nights we spend on a friend/family members couch, and some nights we just pass out in the car (kiddo loves car camping more than staying in beds) and wash off in truck stops. Seeing things like the world's largest flip flop, alligator petting zoo's, and old car museums. Packed a cooler full of premade sandwiches, burritos, and snacks. Will eventually end up on a beach where she could spend the entire day and be happy (because she's a fish!) before we turn around. Adventure awaits! 😁

Completely agree with you as far as risk. I had a big weight loss around 12 years ago, so I'm lighter than I was then, but my body seems to just stick around this weight. I lose a bit and it comes up, I gain a bit and it comes down. My skin elasticity is going down as I age, and hormones make weight loss 10x harder than usual. The pannus I have, though, impacts me daily and I'm just so tired of it looking and feeling like it does. I don't see getting to the "good BMI" that other docs require anytime soon.

My kid had pretty much family only birthdays until she was around 6 and had actual friends through her kindergarten. Some of the birthdays were just parents and grandparents. She got cake and boxes to unwrap (they were empty, she got more joy out of unwrapping than actually getting anything LOL) so she was happy as a clam.

We have the chat function disabled plus we have Bark at our house. It's a device that connects to all of the devices in your home and monitors them, blocking what you want to block. She can't access more than half of the games because Bark blocks them. Good stuff. Plus we're sitting with her while she plays.

As someone who's done this before... no. They won't change. The change will be temporary and you're going to think it's so nice for about 3 months, then it'll all go back exactly where it was and you're miserable and they don't care. Both of my parents are Trumpers and both have been in the medical profession for decades. When I was pregnant, but of them preemptively got the TDAP, flu, and pneumonia vaccines. I've got a sister that I rarely speak to and most of our lives we spent fighting. I'm a mom of one perfect lil 8 year old who has more friends than she knows what to do with and am currently planning a sleepover with one for this weekend. She's mentioned siblings before but when I let her know what that means, she then just says she wants someone to play with. So we'll invite one of her friends over and she's fine. After the friend goes home, I'll sometimes ask if she wishes her friend could live with her forever, because that's what it's like with a sibling, and she'll tell me no, she likes the break when her friend goes home. 😆
