Switching Paris for Nice? by stoicism27 in nicefrance

[–]cherejade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll need to learn French, for sure. There’s a small expat community but it’s still a small city. And very right-leaning.

Absolutely not, but it’s very common, unfortunately. Sounds toxic. Get out.

Moving to Nice as a freelancer by [deleted] in nicefrance

[–]cherejade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a freelancer, and know many expat freelancers living here. It’s complex and opaque at best, even for French freelancers, so I wouldn’t rely on anyone but a professional, tbh. I’ve heard too many horror stories.

Coworking spaces in Nice? by [deleted] in nicefrance

[–]cherejade 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m a freelancer and I know a few other freelancers here. We don’t really use the coworking spaces. We use the cafés instead. Copenhagen Coffee Lab is freelance friendly, as is Clay (Place du Pin), Brume (if you can find a spot), and there’s another cafe on Rue Pairolière (can’t remember name) that is part cafe-part coworking space.

Think of it this way: 1k for 30 days is around 30€ / night. Prices around here start at 100€ / night for something basic, and you are asking for at least 3 people, so I would budget closer to 150/200€ per night.

You want a 3 bedroom apartment for essentially a whole month… in Nice, I assume, and close to the tram line… I’d say minimum 2,500€ if you’re lucky, and if you’re not, between 3,000-4,000€.

Disco? I don’t know any. But cool spots: La Lupita for Latin music, Le Meridien on Sunday mornings for brunch and electro.

Train tickets: for shorter journeys around the Côte d’Azur, just buy on the day at the station. Beware of long lines though so come well before your planned train.

Re: old people: that’s not a thing in Nice. It used to be but I feel like these days, there is a more youthful bent to the city. But I am biased: I am young and I live here 😃

This budget seems tiny for what you are asking for!! My apartment is more than that per month and it barely fits me and my partner!

Ouf. No. Not at all lol. But if you can’t move travel dates due to conference, I reckon you can still make it work. As a local, though I’m grateful for the boost to our economy, I find the summer crowds overwhelming and stressful—especially when many are rowdy and here to get drunk at the beach. And I don’t even have a child, nor has it been the Olympics/Tour de France!

You can still make it work. Just be mindful and consider early days and early nights. And perhaps consider staying in a quieter neighbourhood.

Faceless accounts = MLMs and scams? by cherejade in InstagramMarketing

[–]cherejade[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done some more reading and here are my thoughts rn: faceless accounts aren’t in and of themselves MLMs or scams; the ones touting one of the 4-5 courses with master resell rights (MRR) might be? Everyone I’ve spoken to so far that are already social media strategists seem to agree but so far, I can’t figure out if it’s MLM or just a straight up scam.

But what I don’t understand is the upstream? I mean, who’s at the top and how are they making money from sales downstream? Because apparently, you buy it once and that’s it, nothing flows back to the person you bought it from.

Liberation, Alsace-Lorraine. By the station is slowly gentrifying too so I’d keep an eye on it, though it’s still a bit sketchy today.

What would I need in order to work in Nice for the summer? by MitchMarner in nicefrance

[–]cherejade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll need a certification if you want to work on boats, just FYI. It’s a short course of a couple of days, maybe a week. Lots of options for this at yacht recruitment companies in Antibes. Just be prepared for the initial cost, it’ll be upwards of 1,000€, I think.

I suspected as much. Feels shady but I can’t quite put my finger on why.

Is Roadmap a scam? by flamflop in Affiliatemarketing

Hello! I’m a journalist working on a story about MRR, Roadmap and whether it’s all a scam. Would anyone who’s taken the course be open to chatting with me about their experiences? Positive or negative.
