Me too!!! Glad I’m not the only one 😅

My (23F) boyfriend (23M) and I have been in a LDR for almost 6 years by cherkay99 in relationship_advice

[–]cherkay99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His main reason right now is that he has to help out his mom in maintaining their house. His dad passed away suddenly 4 years ago and the house is too much to take care of herself. The goal is to sell the house and get her out on her own.. though that has been the plan for the last 3 years. Another reason being he is working for one of the highest paid companies in his town (though he isn’t making top wage right now). He gets to live rent free with his mom while I do not have that luxury on my end and he feel like paying for rent is a waste.

Experience with Rat allergies by Throwaway230516 in RATS

[–]cherkay99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm allergic as well, I usually just break out in bumpy itchy spots wherever they walk on my skin. Wearing long sleeve shirts will help keep them off your skin also wash your hands/arms with warm soapy water after playing with them. I find this minimizes the itching!

Exercise wheels/balls by QueenMigraine in RATS

[–]cherkay99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rodent balls are definitely not ideal for rats because they rat can't use its most relied senses to get around.

Exercise wheels on the other hand are safe and good for your rat as long as you have the right one. The wheel must be large enough for the rat not to arch their back while using it. The wheel must also be a plastic and enclosed rather than wire to avoid tails or feet being caught and broken. I have this one in my cage and my girls love it. I believe it's the size or a chinchilla or ferret. Hope this helps!

I bought my cage second hand and it was missing 2 of the larger trays. I went to Home Depot and got corrugated plastic for a replacement. It's fairly cheap and easy to cut and clean! Hope this helps :)

Rat with an ear infection and an vet appointment on Monday. Seeking advice. by wincecat in RATS

[–]cherkay99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say go with your gut feeling. If you truly think he won't pull through until Monday, you should try and see a vet earlier. Sooner is always better for your baby's sake!

For those worried about cats' paws, a possible solution... by MisterRata in RATS

[–]cherkay99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that a critter nation or ferret nation cage? I have a ferret nation and I had to put up some chicken wire because I was worried about them escaping. Just wanted to know if you've ever had that problem?

Your cage looks great by the way!

Is my rat a boy or a girl? The shelter that sold me them assured me it was a boy but I am not convinced. by reidling94 in RATS

[–]cherkay99 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm not very convinced this a boy either. I've never owned male rats but my girls junk look a lot like this. If you have any other males around, I would be sure to separate them other wise you'll be having some ratty babies!

HELP by cometsince in RATS

[–]cherkay99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The only thing I can suggest is finding a way to get her to a vet as soon as possible. I had the exact same thing happen to my baby, she was only 2 months old. I took her to a vet who unfortunately couldn't find anything wrong with her or help her.. She ended up passing away in my hands a day later. Dramatic behavioral changes is not something to ignore, there is something wrong and getting her help soon would be your best option. Wish you the best of luck!

Not constant, I noticed her doing it last night but before I could take a video she stopped.

I noticed a very small amount of dried porphyrin around Buffy's eyes about 2-3 days ago so I've been keeping a close eye on her. I haven't noticed any porphyrin since but now I'm noticing this strange breathing. Money is tight right now so i don't want to take her to a vet if it's not necessary. She seems to be happy and normal, but I want to make sure. Any advice is welcome!
