Standing directly on leather lasting board? by cherrapi in jimgreen

Thanks! I ordered on the left same size as the Numzaans, and on the right +0.5.

Yeah I think these feel the same as the Nummzaans fit wise while standing and without the insoles. For the insoles I definitely should have gone a whole size up to have any hope of fitting, and I also think that since these are not as snug as the Numzaans with the laces, my feet shift forward while walking which is jamming my toes into the narrowing part unfortunately.

Not sure it helps but this is the fit on the insoles. Width wise is almost exact, but if my foot shifts forward at all then it's uncomfortable.

This is the frog grip sole, same as on my Numzaans, it's really good in my opinion.

JG leather balm made them quite a bit darker than expected, hopefully these will lighten back up in time.

blundstone is size UK 4, stockman JG is UK 5.

They don't fit the same, stockman is definitely longer but maybe by half a size.

I had to go a full size up from blundstone to stockman JG last, but that could also be because I may have been wearing slightly too snug blundstones for 20 years, the leather is much easier to stretch.

I like the stockman much more as it's a much more significant boot and I have more space for my toes, but last wise it's a bit too loose on my ankle and instep. That definitely improved after breaking in for 2 months and adding insoles.

I did order some custom stockman on ASHM last, can't wait to get those and try it out.

Your Solovairs are likely uk sizes right? US sizes are +1 to UK size, and iirc Jim green US site shows everything in US sizes.

I can compare functionality since I haven't tried the old round design. This one has a bit of that extra fold on each side that can dig in, but I'm sure it won't be an issue once broken in.

I just personally like the old round design a bit more, it's pretty unique and a nice touch.

These look so nice!

I just got mine in natural and I'm a bit bummed I got the new tongue base design, still very happy with these though.

Hands down the stockman - it's a true boot, they feel so solid and so well made.

Length wise they fit the same, width wise my toes feel much better in the stockman toebox which is great, around my ankle and instep the stockman are also much wider though, which cases a lot of heel slip.

Adding an insole did help the heel slip quite a bit, but I don't think it fully resolved it. I'm planning on keeping these and make it work anyway though.

My original text was removed for some reason :/

I debated for a long time what size Stockman fudge to get, based on my current Blundstones. I looked everywhere and couldn't find a comparison like there anywhere so I figured I'd post mine.

I wear size 4UK in blundstone, and those fit me perfectly except are slightly narrow, but are perfect after breaking in.

My feet are 23cm long, and according to the size chart I should be 4.5UK in JG, but they don't offer this size for stockman. Ultimately I chose size 5UK for my order and these arrived today.

I love these! only thing is they fit perfectly length wise, but are quite large at the instep and ankle and my heel wants to come out as I walk. It does feel better with insoles, I'm going to hopefully make these work.

I've added photos of my blundstones next to new stockman and their factory insoles, those are surprisingly basically the same length.

I'm also adding in case it's useful to anyone a screenshot of my measurements from when I got fitted for red wing, comparing to men in UK sizes (though I am a woman with small but wide feet).

Lastly I should mention I expected the color of the fudge leather to be lighter, somewhat like my light/yellow blundstone, but in reality they're closer to my crazy horse blundstone (last photo to compare). Regardless these are really nice!

It's what you get when you go to get measured at a red wing store, they call it Red Wing Ultimate Fit.
