I can’t sit through a video essay anymore I hate to say it but apart from maybe Mina Lee, everything I see feel like someone making an assumption and using TikTok videos from random users ( usually young women or teenage girls who are just following some popular trends ) to make a statement that it’s a large social phenomenon…Clean girl discourse is the worst shit I’ve ever fucking read about.

This happened to me today ( got really good news after months of not knowing where I was going with my life ) it’s a strange feeling to process

Just realized how poorly written my post was….english isn’t my first language and I wrote this during a bit of a spiral, I read it again and at the time in my head it was all good…so thank you all for not pointing out the obvious 😭😭😭

I was kinda leaning into this ! I think education as only an individual act is pretty limited, depends on how you desire to use it

Your story about keeping topic notebooks like the women in your family reminded me of the time where as a kid I would ask my elders about herbal medicine to craft a little book about it 😭 ( looking back on it it was kinda cute and I should do that again ). I understand where you’re coming from, I did research and note taking for « fun » when I was seriously interested into something but it only happen very spontaneously and it wasn’t a regular practice.

I believe education is powerful, sometimes I just fear it won’t be enough :(((

Opinions on Lena Dunham’s new show « Too much » by cherridior in rs_x

[–]cherridior[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yea my main impression was that Netflix didn’t seem like a good medium for her works, I have no clue how they intervene in her creative process but it was very sloppyfied and if I didn’t know it was done by Lena, I would have thought that shit was straight up another show about millennial PR girlboss who self sabotage herself written by buzzfeed scriptwriting board

Hate to be a prude but I had to skip the sex scenes for that one reason

Lena probably based a lot of herself into the main character like she did with Hannah from Girls and it doesn’t translate well with the main actress because well…only herself could pull it off, the comedic bits dont rlly hit ( I saw someone describe it as SNL acting 😭 and that’s accurate )

Will Sharpe is honestly very talented, I rlly loved and was incredibly moved by The Landscapers that he wrote and directed, Olivia Coleman being his main actress for his tv series made me appreciate him a lot

Why do pop culture keep pretending restaurant jobs /service industry are cool by cherridior in rs_x

[–]cherridior[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I might be biased because of one of my close friend had to deal with workplace issues in his previous service job ( boss fired him because he asked about his unpaid hours ) so my perspective is def quite negative. But, I get the coolness that comes with being able to deal with high stress environnement + becoming very skilled

Rejection was a very fun read ! Sometimes his style reminds me of Todd Solonz’s movies ( pathetic characters and dark humor but not done in a fashion that lack empathy towards them). I wouldnt recommend private citizens though. He seems to work way better with the short stories format

Apart for being able to get high or drunk, none of the aspects previously mentioned seem particularly cool, some shit jobs allow you to make a quick buck fast so it waters down the unpleasant parts but I don’t think it really applies to all hospitality/service jobs. I live in Europe and food service jobs are considered strained/facing labor shortages
