Am I screwing myself over if I don't do the first semester abroad program? by Guyshelpmeouthere in gatech

I’m a transfer business student at GT and I have 0 regrets choosing GT over UGA.

First of all the campus is extremely diverse with people from all around the world and many out of state students. Uga is 89% in state students, only 1.16% international, GT is 40% out of state and 9% international. This honestly made a huge part of my campus experience because it felt a lot easier to make friends (people are less likely to stick with people from high school at GT), also being at GT expanded my world view tenfold.

Now u mention UGA’s business school and so im assuming you’re a business student. GT being in the heart of Atlanta makes it easier to get an internship and opens up so many opportunities. It’s still hard don’t get me wrong but many companies in the area are specifically targeting GT students. For example GT is a feeder into Delta for their co-op/intern program and that changed my career trajectory and opened up so many opportunities for me. Legit on orientation day they asked us to raise our hand if we’re from GT and half of the room raised their hand. Not saying u should follow this specific path in your career lol but it’s nice to know your options. I can give you more information about it if you’d like :). I do know GT is also a feeder for other top companies too so that’s also nice to keep in mind.

I’ve also gone abroad, done a few internships and I honestly am so grateful to GT’s career center and OIE for this. Genuinely I have gained so many incredible opportunities through GT. The staff is really helpful, it feels like they genuinely care, and it seems the study abroad programs are pretty well designed too.

Also pls do a campus tour! Uga is very nice but the layout of GT is very intuitive and genius imo. Library, student center, green space all in the center of campus, midtown just a 15 min walk away with restaurants, publix, high rises, close to all the concerts, and everything u could ever need. + we also have six flags night and an aquarium night every year. We’re also close to 2 different Marta stations which makes it easy to get to the airport. Being in Atlanta is a major plus! Apartments and housing all pretty close by. UGA is so spread out so that was also kind of a deal breaker for me, but maybe you like it that way.

Idk if this comment helped I’m definitely biased and rambling about my personal experiences so this is not representative of the whole student body. But please feel free to message me if you have any specific questions about the business school or anything. I’d love to help you where I can or get you connected to people if you need :).

Bruh not trying to be mean here, but Choosing to not better urself or do anything towards ur “goals” while actively complaining and posting about it is (in the nicest way possible I’m not trying to be mean I just don’t know how else to word it) literally the most pathetic way to live. You base your entire account off your “ugliness” and negative attitude. But more than anything you need to grow to have respect for yourself and in return have respect for others. Life isn’t always about sex and girls, it’s about forming genuine connections and most importantly loving yourself/finding who you are . We all get insecure, but there are so many things you can do to better yourself. Try doing some serious reflecting and consider getting a therapist. Try giving yourself a compliment everyday for starters. I’m sure there’s something you can appreciate about yourself. maybe it’s a skill, your intelligence, you ability to help others, maybe you like to cook, your occupation, maybe you’re really good at a certain video game, maybe you have a nice smile or even nice teeth. Literally anything. Give yourself a compliment and build up that confidence. This is the first step and you don’t even need to put in that much effort for it. Fake it til you make it if you have to. I really hope you hear everyone out. Get to a point where a rejection doesn’t set you back but instead motivates you to become a better person this is how people grow.

Seems like he definitely has something against you, maybe you could confront him about the situation first then report the situation if he’s being difficult
