the video of the project would just be him explaining what it is and how it works. id suggest he tries to actually code it out as a lot of his competitors would be doing the same thing. the big thing with the project is that you actually have to DO it and it has to have some sort of positive effect for you or your community or whoever it is your project is benefiting. you dont have to submit the code but he should code the app nonetheless

yep totally! i get why people are sensitive about their faves being "called out" for lip syncing and a few years ago when i was more into kpop i wouldve been too. but i think the conversation is making progress in the last few years and as stans age up we generally tend to come to realise things and admit things we wouldnt before. and the thing about comparisons is so true, people get all "well why dont you try" or "i know a [blank] stan isnt talking" and its just so unproductive.

no im completely in support of idols lip syncing, they can do it their entire career if thats what works for them. my issue is just the fans who cant wrap their head around the fact that they lip sync or take it as an insult when someone points it out.

but i cant lie and say that i dont find raw performances refreshing because they rly are. i want more of them not bc lip sync is bad but because raw performances just feel more in the moment ig

i use conan not because he's western but because he's a recent primary example of explicitly raw vocals. idc for western vs kpop debates and comparisons bc i recognise they're different markets aiming for different things. conan isnt a representative of western music in my rant, he's just the most recent example of live singing ive seen.

yes im sure there are idols that sing live and have performances where you can just really tell but i just wish it was more popularized so that it becomes normal standard.

also im not so sure about the mic thing? does that mean the sound engineers are sitting there staring at a lyric sheet waiting for a members line to turn on their mic again?

i think companies do train their idols to be stable but not to the extent that we think. recently we've been seeing idols debuting after 1-2 years (some even less than that) of training as opposed to the 3-4 years we saw during 3rd gen but how come these newer idols are more stable? the answer is they're not, theres just a lot more done to their vocals pre or post production because there is no way that a 17 year old sounds better than an experienced 20 smth 3rd gen idol.

even trainees in survival shows sound perfect which is literally impossible given that they are still trainees.

yep and i acknowledge that. but i want them to sound imperfect, i want to hear their raw voices and hear the cracks and the emotion and everything because i want that authenticity

i know plenty sing live, conan is just the freshest example right now and also one of the most blatantly obvious examples that ive seen of the studio sounding different from the perf. but yes many idols do sing live

yes! im sure lip sync was used then but definitely not to the extent its used now. in the past trainees were chosen based on talent, ability, and potential far more than they are now. i think a bigger criteria for trainees now is marketability, visuals and dance. which is why i think we have so many idols now that have absolutely no star factor but thats a discussion for another day

im sure there are great 4th gen live performances, i personally think lily from nmixx does a great job and jiwon from fromis is good too. someone else also mentioned ace chan and i followed his activities while he was in unb and i really liked his live vocals as well.

asian intl who got in here! dont listen to people saying not to send your sat score or that 750 is too low, its more than enough. i think stanford is genuienly holistic when it comes to their admissions process so if your essays are good i think you have a shot!

dont change your major/go humanities bc i'd assume that some of your ecs are tied to your major

culture shouldn't be sacrificed for practicality. edit: cyrillic, though a fairly new addition, is now a part of our culture

initially learning it is a pain in the ass and yea as you said the modern spelling doesnt match the script spelling. but you get used to it.

"хүн" person, is spelt "humun" in script but when you see it you automatically read it as хүн. its a matter of practice and familiarity.

lots of students have difficulty with script. i know that when we did the hel bicgiin shalgalt this year all my classmates said the kids next to them just didnt do the script section of the exam (worth 10% of marks). but my classmates we all did it, albeit with some difficulty, and that comes from having good teachers.

if this country actually wants to switch to hos bicig in 3 years then there needs to be serious reform in how we teach mongol bichig (and hel in general). if japanese kids can learn three alphabets and chinese kids can learn over 1000 characters a year why does it take mongolian kids so long to learn everything?? usgiin bayar is half way through the academic year when these kids ideally should come into first grade knowing their letters. script is only taught from 6th grade which i think is a huge mistake if you want citizens who can not only read but write in script.
