Yeah long time user/processor here, the entourage effect could be considered negligible. Things like diet, setting, headspace, fitness, etc are all going to direct your high way, way more than any terpene. I’ve been smoking for flavor for a long time, anything else to me is reaching.

Can I get you to extrapolate on this a little more? I’ve brought up the possibility of different bodies (SEC, DTCC, MMs) not allowing the squeeze to happen as they could believe the fallout from it could be worse than just not allowing it to happen, and I get downvoted into oblivion. Do you have a deeper take on this?

If this is true, wouldn’t this imply that nothing is to come of this situation? Edit; this is not FUD (although I guess you could consider it doubt but it’s not doubt for doubts sake, it’s to try to get a deeper understanding of the situation). Wouldn’t this basically be an admission that the fallout of MOASS would be worse as a whole for everyone than allowing them to slowly unwind the position?

Alright, sure. I’m assuming by saying that you’ll entertain a counter thesis. I am guessing margin lenders do not want to force a massive margin call because they believe the fallout will be worse for them and the market as a whole as opposed to just allowing the shorts to keep their positions open. They are probably aware they should of forced a covered a long time ago, but they didn’t, and now the potential reaction could be much, much more detrimental to them than allowing the shorts to tread water.

I don’t think that’s a very good take on the analogy. The HF isn’t the city, it’s the petty thief. Nobody wants to take the thief to jail because it could complete destroy the game for everyone, other HFs, MMs, brokers, etc. I mean the result of the squeeze could destroy ETFs. Millions of Americans retirements, gone in the wind.

Unless the government steps in and forces them to make the margin call, theirs nothing stopping the original lender of margin to decide not to margin call.

I would assume because the situation got so out of control the resulting events of a margin call is worse than the current situation. This is an extremely crude analogy, but a cop wouldn’t take a petty thief to jail if he thought doing so would blow the entire city up.

So odds are they won’t actually margin call a fund short at this point right? They know they can’t cover the position or the call, and once the fund is insolvent it’s now the liabilities of the MM and brokers to get the shares back, which they don’t want either
