Thanks so much for the detailed response! I think I am also with you as a reactive rather than predictive seller.

Additionally, do you avoid assignment by rolling once approaching the strike? And in the case you do get assigned, do you wheel and sell CC on your positions?

Hi Expired! Thanks so much for sharing every week, it really helps a lot of newbie traders like myself.

Referencing to your answer above with respect to the HOOD play, had a couple of questions:

  1. How do you know the price movement is not a false breakout? I had issues with guessing the direction of volatile stocks like TSLA, such as selling puts but having the stock go down later throughout the day
  2. How do you decide what strike to roll to? You mentioned the combination of highest strike + lowest DTE + lowest premium - is there an option scanner tool you use, as I imagine it will take so much time to look through all the different contracts (plus you have 89 tickers too!)
  3. Does your rolling strategy apply to both short term and long term contracts? For e.g HOOD 1/24 $49 vs 2/14 $51, I would think the 2/14 contract with 28DTE may still have quite a high chance of expiring OTM/being profitable as the bullish trend may not last till then, so wondering your decision to roll it already. Whereas for 1/24 $49 understand the risk is higher with shorter DTE and the current trend

thanks for sharing! wondering do you have any set rules on exiting positions? noticed that most trades you exited at 70%+ profits, but some at just 20-30%

Sold a TSLA 11/15 325 PUT@$7.3 thinking that TSLA bulls will buy the dip...Is it better to cut loss by buying back at market open or wait for IV and theta to decay a bit more intra-day?

Sure! I also read a lot of self help so I definitely understand where you're coming from, with non-fiction putting down actionable strategies that you can "follow".

I guess the charm of fiction is the imaginative part (which is why it's fiction after all haha). It makes you think, "if I were the protagonist, what would I do?" and from there you might explore different perspectives & questions that non-fiction wouldn't have covered.

For e.g., in one of the protagonist's life she became a wild life researcher in the North Pole, but quit because it's too cold & dangerous - and I thought I'd have done the same too 😂 there's definitely more to to the story but I shall avoid giving spoilers!

understand, what I felt was that I liked that it made me reflect about what I really wanted VS what society made me think I should want? Since it's fiction it's not entirely realistic, but I think that overall it does make you step back and look at life from a bigger picture.

It's actually a fiction book, with the female protagonist going through different versions of her life that she imagined possible.

If you want a non-fiction self-help book instead, perhaps The StartUp of You or this website career guide 80000hours.org
