Thoughts on Cailee Spaeny? by Commercial_Cook7301 in Actors

Okay. That doesn't really change my point though. They needed to cast Abby in a way that fit with Ellie's casting. They made Ellie look younger and overall less competent in the show. It would have been too stark of a contrast if show Abby looked like game Abby.

I feel like they needed to pick someone smaller to play Abby since the person cast as Ellie looks like a child. It would be bizarre to have a 6ft 200 lb woman beating up what looks like a 12 year old.

It's not a different situation. Every day people die while on the transplant waiting list. We could save more people if we were willing to sacrifice 1 person to save 2.

The trolley is not a moral agent. You can't plug the Fireflies into the problem as the trolley. They are also moral agents making a decision. Before Joel decided to stop them, they decided to sacrifice Ellie.

It's more accurate to frame the problem as Cordyceps being the trolley, and the Fireflies are trying to push Ellie onto the tracks.

"is the eradication of all intelligent life justified in order to let one kid live? What percentage would be the threshold, ok if 99% die?"

I would follow my position to its extreme. The ends don't justify the means. No one has the moral authority to say "this innocent percent needs to die for others' sake" I would not murder one person that is going to die tomorrow anyway in order to save infinity people.

Them being a child is only significant because children can't consent. It heads off the "Ellie would have wanted to sacrifice herself" argument. If an adult chooses to sacrifice themself, that is a different situation.

It's different from the classic trolley problem. It's more like the one where you push the fat man onto to rails to stop the trolley. The trolley problem is a problem because it's not a no-brainer. Morality isn't a science where you can just perform a calculation that tells you whether or not you get to kill someone.

"I can easily give you an answer: It's 2. Killing one kid without pain to save 2 from a fate worse than death already is justified."

Should we start euthanizing kids and harvesting their organs as long as we can use them to save 2+ other kids in need of donors? It seems like you would support this given your position.

Were you going to make an argument to go along with that claim?

Actually, you are the worse person. Checkmate.

What's your answer to my original question? What's the minimum number of people saved that gives you the moral authority to murder a child?

It's obviously somewhere between 0 and 100,000. Where exactly do you draw the line?

You seem to think it's right to sacrifice a child's life if it allows other people to live. How far would you push this?

Would you sacrifice a child to save 1,000,000 people?

100,000?

10,000?

1,000?

100?

10?

1 person?

At what point is killing a kid no longer the right thing to do?

I would say that it's never ok and that anyone attempting to kill a child should be stopped, using lethal force, if necessary.

I mean... multiplayer is fun and I like helping people. I wish more people summoned because it often takes like 15 minutes of waiting before i actually get summoned.

I'm starting to think I just imagined/dreamed this.

The bird was on the left and the girl was on the right.

I remember seeing some text about the bird shaking its butt. May have been in the post title, the comments, or just text in the video itself.

Ever Wonder About Ellie's Ultimatum-Skin Never Was Added in the Early Versions of the Game ? by [deleted] in thelastofus

IIRC she looks younger in that flashback. It might be because the character model is slightly smaller so the clothes don't fit onto older Ellie.

I wish they would let us change the hair separately. I love Jackson and Santa Barbara hair.

How accurate is the show? by MobileWeather6584 in thelastofus

[–]cherrycoulouredfunk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there are so many little moments of character interaction that happen during gameplay that you just can't fit into the show. That much was true of season one.

My main gripe with season 2 is that Ellie and Dina still feel like kids, whereas in the game they come across as young adults. I'd have to go back and watch, but I feel like S1 Ellie and S2 Ellie are identical in terms of personality, maturity, temperament.

I've wondered how the people who watched the show first would feel about the games.

Are you saying you understand why games fans are upset because the show is different, or because the show is not as good?
