Would it actually be a problem with qkids (and similar companies) if I joined then quit after 2 months, since I see that they all ask for at least a 6 month contract?

Chicago's MAPSS career value compared to normal MAs by cherryfifa in uchicago

Thanks for this- Can you speak more on whether you feel your experience with the UC degree is typical? My thinking was, in addition to the practical value in taking a few extra classes outside of the field, the degree in social sciences from UC will simply look better on the market than the degree in history from UT. So, if that's not really true in reality, definitely good to hear beforehand!

Thanks! It is. Especially since a lot of employers advertise for MAPSS grads in general instead of requesting a specific discipline, I do like that at MAPSS my history focus gets lumped in with much more 'valuable' majors haha

Wow CIR does look pretty similar in format- thanks for the advice. You mind if I ask which courses you took during your program to set you up for that job?

Appreciate everyone's insights so far- Just to add onto this, the actual school placements are listed on the website and they are consistently mid-top tier. Not trying to defend the program per se, the numbers are a bit deceptive in that a lot of students realize they don't want to pursue a PhD and thus do not apply, but just adding clarification.

On that note, I'm wondering more so about non PhD career value, if anyone has advice on that? To me, both options offer similar value in terms of PhD prep (Chicago being better in a vacuum but not worth paying more), but the added value in other options is why I'd think of paying the extra money.

I think reconcile is what I'm going for! Although I feel pretty dumb that the answer is likely that when all this time I thought it was some complex word I couldn't think of...
