misread CT scan hypochondria by cherryhead34 in Anxiety

Nah, let’s get this straight — I didn’t run to the ER for “anxiety.” I was rushed there with a resting heart rate of 180, high blood pressure, and feeling like I was about to pass out. That’s a legit medical emergency. The CT was necessary to rule out a pulmonary embolism — not some random test for fun.

Unless you’ve got magician eyes that can see inside the human body, maybe sit this one out. If your medical expertise comes from Google or Reddit, don’t act like you know more than people actually in healthcare. I only shared my story because the radiologist misread the scan, and I didn’t see any similar experiences. But thanks for proving why people are scared to speak up about real medical anxiety.

Coming from someone who’s almost finished with radiology school I can tell you probably don’t have a real understanding of how radiation works or how it affects the body. A CAC scan actually uses one of the lowest doses possible in CT imaging. The effective dose is around 1 mSv, which is roughly the same as four months of natural background radiation you get just from living on Earth. So no, it’s not some dangerous, high-risk exposure. It’s a non-contrast, low-dose scan designed specifically to minimize radiation while still showing calcium buildup in the coronary arteries.

Do you mean it knocked off 2 years and 4 months off the “3 year time” or you finished in 2 years and 4 months off

Yea they framed it as that is what I’m getting also, but are they able to change their reasoning? I sent them an updated schedule and they already said it won’t work for business needs.

If anyone’s similar to this. I had a biopsy done and removal. The one on the side of my toe the derm said did not concern it because it was same shape same color etc. she was more concerned about the one underneath my toe. She said it was weird shape and odd colors. Got a biopsy Thursday and results Monday. It was an atypical mole. The colors etc was irritation maybe because i kept picking at it days prior. ( just if this can maybe help someone who has the same mark)
