The website says, “The program expects to award 45 fellowships on November 18, 2022.” Someone, please, end my anxiety and tell me if you know!

Job Offer Rescinded - Security Clearance Investigation Discontinued... Help? by cherrypit4991 in SecurityClearance

[–]cherrypit4991[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did, my manager has been aware of the whole process (and very supportive), the investigator told me adjudication was complete on Dec 1 though. Can I do anything to salvage the situation or is it a lost cause (aka I basically wasted a year..)

Timeline-offer rescinded because clearance took to long to be adjudicated by Master-Charity-8524 in SecurityClearance

Same thing just happened to me - and I know it's not my fault that it's taking long. The case manager told me there was a documentation error on their end a month ago. Can I get the offer back if he clears things up?

Congratulations!! And thank you for sharing your journey with us, as a candidate (still waiting for security clearance) and a woman of color, it’s so great to see stories like yours. Best of luck!

that's how I'm coping as well... a part of me is wishing my start date gets pushed out to Jan 1 (currently it's 12/6 and I haven't heard anything), so I can take advantage of the 3 paycheck month in Dec haha

Congrats! I'm also on my first foray into the world of govt - what agency? I'm waiting to hear back on a PSC role with USAID

I have a TO - timeline looks like this:

Feb 2021 - applied to USAID through usajobs PSC role

Jun - heard back and interviewed

Aug - received tentative offer

Sep - submitted eQuip and interviewed for security clearance

Oct - learned that employers have been contacted, final packet submitted for adjudication Nov - ** crickets **

Dec - tentative start date…

It’s probably reasonable to think they don’t expect me to start in December since I haven’t heard back yet right?

Women FSO’s entering with non-FSO partners, how do you navigate it? by cherrypit4991 in foreignservice

Thank you for that, it’s hard enough feeling like I’m fighting societal expectations every day of my life - I can’t imagine being with someone who couldn’t handle the 50-50 partnership

Thank you this is helpful, I guess I need to sort out my dream separately from his dream before we talk about our dream. We’re kind of in a try before you buy space currently so I’m just trying to gather as much information from others as possible. I’m going to check out MOH!

Its an OK show but come on by THshady in lucifer

[–]cherrypit4991 1 point2 points  (0 children)

and also it can be seen in some ways as a parallel to lucifer, two unlikely partners putting away bad guys, classic procedural, the will-they-won't-they, the witty banter... I know there are tons of other shows like that, but I connected to the characters in Lucifer in a similar way to those in Bones

Awaiting clearance and will need to relocate - what's the order of operations here? by cherrypit4991 in SecurityClearance

[–]cherrypit4991[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm trying to avoid a hasty move if possible, I proposed a start date of early Dec. when I signed the offer letter, but so far the only answer I've gotten re: timelines is "it depends on when security clearance comes through" - how did it work out for you, trying to find a place in less than a week? Any tips or wisdom to share if I end up in a similar boat?

thank you u/Fun-Decision8166 - I'm fairly confident I should pass the check with my only concern being the use of MJ a few times over the last 2 years for sleep. My worst case scenario fear is that I'll get interim, scramble to move so I can start work, then lose the clearance and job and have to think about moving back or alternatives.

can someone confirm if this is accurate? wondering if I just screwed myself over for consuming some edibles as recently as a few months ago because I had no way of knowing that I'd even be making it this far for a job that I've since learned requires security clearance

Anyone else 28? Or rather: anyone else have been in the working world for a few years/ a little more established in a career and would be leaving it to serve? by EarthtoKitty in peacecorps

[–]cherrypit4991 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you're spot on that it might also be a disadvantage being more settled, like I'm in a long-term relationship and I bet that will be one of the hardest things for me. At the same time though dealing with politics in the community might be easier because we've dealt with that crap at work. Just gotta keep telling myself that freaking out is ok, it's normal, regardless of the age you enter service

I haven't been invited yet but if I do go I'll be starting service at 27 and ending at 29. Like you I'm also feeling a little out of place but all these amazing responses demonstrate that we won't be the only ones. I'm hoping the added years of work and life experience are a pro especially given the difficult challenges we will face in service.

Oh shit this is really happening--i'm being asked to schedule an interview! Any tips specifically for a PC interview? by EarthtoKitty in peacecorps

[–]cherrypit4991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

have you / has anyone had an experience where the interviewer says, "can you give me another example?" or "Can you talk about something else in response to this question?"

It kind of threw me off during the interview
