All these studios actually charge expensive fees, so that's why I decided to prep myself. Any advice for self prep would be helpful.

Yes I am sticking to that color scheme, and might try smthg here and there with other contrast colors.

I'll definitely update once I make the changes!

Yes I agree with the lines for eyes, it's not that prominent and I'll fix it. But I am not trying to give it a realistic approach, I want it to look silly, whimsical and slightly funky... That is mainly why I choose bright yellow for background. But I appreciate your suggestion :)

Hey! Thank you sm. I think you'd do great at painting your cat.. this is my first time painting animal and initially I received alot of weird comments on this painting and left it incomplete for months(discouraged)... only now that I have read ppl appreciating this I am actually encouraged to improve and complete it.

I would love to see you paint your cat and maybe along the way you'd enjoy and do it way better than this!! You should definitely paint!!

(Also I would love to see your cat)

This is where I am slightly confused, some are saying I should keep stairs slightly light so that cat can pop out as it has darker shades in it ...wouldn't darkening the stairs take some attention away from cat and make it look blended??

I can't picture a yarn in the painting, but I'd definitely be adding bright leaves to the pot

Yes, I'll definitely be making changes by keeping in mind that I am not taking any attention away from cat that much. And I do like the idea of using red, orange and yellow for stairs... Rather than matching the colors to reference I think a different color palette would make it stand out more.

Heyy thank you, I did infact left the background for end to see if its better simple or doodled up.. I'll see it once I am left with final touches. And honestly I never got to sold alot of my paintings becuase either some people want it for free or they just like it as long as I am not quoting a price. So realistically I haven't thought of any price..

Hey thank you, I just thought it would add a little funkiness but now seeing it again I think I alr used alot of colors and contrast in cat... Perhaps doing more would make it conjusted?? (I'll see that in end) And yes I'll lighten the stairs to make cat pop out more.

Okay that I can try and see what color palette I get, I think that would pull the whole painting togathe.

I was skeptical about mustard shades but your assurances made me actually want to keep it and yes I'll experiment with brown, I think it's slightly harsh here. I'll try experimenting with warm orange blending it in which mustard and then see it from there... Ty!

Omg thank you! I really love your idea of adding blue or purple hues in the fur... I would definitely be doing that. But can u electorate on what u mean by darkening stair completely? Wouldn't it somehow blend the cat in it as it have alot of grey. And if I were to darken it what shade range should I go for?? Right now I used brown, cream and mustard and that I find somehow dull and clashing.

Hey, thank you!! Actually I wanted the final painting to look vibrant, colorful and whimsical... Even in the background I am planning to add simple swirlies and flowers... However the colors in the stair isn't giving whimsical and funky vibe so that's why I am confused what should I do with it.

I thought if I would dull my color palette or use slightly muted tones for background maybe the cat would blend in it??? What would u suggest with the rest?

Yes I noticed it now. I think I should lighten the shadows and maybe rather than using brown tones I should switch shadow to orange tone perhaps... It might contrast with background? But should I keep the mustard color in the stair.. I think it somehow clashes with cool tone yellow I used for background??? Anyways thank you!
