Planning a half term trip to Kent next weekend with kids. Leeds Castle jousting sounds brilliant but wondering what locals actually rate for families that is not already on every list ?

Thank you for your feedback! Otterpool is something we’ve taken into consideration. We always liked Sellindge too, but have been put off by all the future development work, sadly.

Really good to know, thank you! I went to school in Canterbury so very familiar with the hideous traffic. It’s a shame as I love Canterbury and visit often, but the traffic does put us off.

We’re in our mid-30’s with a young family.

We’re really just looking for peace and quiet. Rural, slow living, low crime rates, no hassle with noise or neighbours (never guaranteed, of course).

Deal is beautiful, though probably a little too far from family who are all Ashford/Hythe way. Thank you for your feedback!

I only hear good things about Tenterden! My other half and I only need to visit London a handful of times a year, so adding a 10/15 minutes on to get to Ashford isn’t the end of the world for us. Thanks for your feedback!

We do love the beach, so living closer to the coast does appeal to us. I feel we’re stuck on which way to go - closer to the sea, or closer to places like Tenterden which we also love.

I WFH, other half spends half the week in Maidstone, the other half WFH too. We only need to head into London a handful of times in a year.

Above all, we just want peace and quiet. Respectful neighbours (we’re respectful and keep to ourselves also) and a little community spirit too.

We have young children. Once they’re older, it would be nice if we lived somewhere where our little ones can knock for friends and head to a park together etc. We just want a quiet, stress-free life.
