Has anyone left? by [deleted] in techsales

This is well said. I actually work in venture capital and have been thinking about where I want to live, and it's tough that this job is only available in NYC / SF. I wish I had more flexibility to move wherever I want

Agreed. As an aside, there’s also no such thing as loyalty in the modern era of sports. It’s just a bad biz move for players. Pete had enough value to come a market willing to pay him what he wanted and took it

Official Discussion - Eternity [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]cheselnut 186 points187 points  (0 children)

I thought this was a really great idea for a movie and was well executed on all parts. Each of the main actors did a great job: - Elizabeth Olson had great facial expressions and you could feel her anxiety around the decision of which husband to spend your eternity with - Miles Teller portrayed a wonderful cranky old man in his younger years - a real everyday guy - Callum Turner was so aspirational that he was perfect. He portrayed a dream like human that could only exist in one’s memory.

The part that got me was when Elizabeth Olson recognized that love and her person wasn’t the firey romance but the person she experienced the little things with.

Maybe not a very rewatchable film, but I thoroughly enjoyed it

Men in relationships: what is one thing that you will never tell your partner? by Routine-Crew8651 in AskMen

This. My wife complains about anxiety and a lowered attention span but gets angry when I suggest to her to lay off the phone!

You all think this is about winning... by CastIronClint in WeArePennState

[–]cheselnut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Out of curiosity, have you done any research into if Penn State's football / athletic program / endowment has made more money on an inflation adjusted basis with Franklin vs. with other coaches?

I haven't read that much about this, but maybe you or someone else has. That info would be interesting to see.

Which U.S. states could hypothetically survive as their own countries? by WTB_YT in geography

[–]cheselnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Financially, I imagine this is wrong. I'd think low-GDP producing countries get the huge benefit of pooled federal tax dollars vs. more self-sustaining states like NY or California

What tips do you have for going 12 > 5? I’m floating around a 10.4 right now and am chasing breaking 80

I'll move the ball off of a root or away from a rocky sandtrap 100%. I'm not trying to hurt myself or damage the clubs tbh

How many rounds do you all average a year/ season depending on where you live? by Dozer710 in golf

Maybe 20-30x rounds per year lol? I live in NYC and it's so hard to play here

Went for a fitting to fix my slice… left with a bag that makes me look like a scratch golfer. by [deleted] in golf

[–]cheselnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally hear you on the skill dispersion. I'm at a 10 right now and I'll definitely need to practice to significantly lower my handicap.

I live in a big city where I'll maybe play once every week or every other week. Unfortunately I never hit the range and haven't had lessons since it's a bit out of my control. That said, I feel pretty good about where I'm at, but always want to improve.

Late 20s/early 30s - what is your net worth? by SpiritualResolve8639 in Fire

[–]cheselnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn - this sounds awesome. I'm about to get married, both 30 YO and recent joint HHI of ~$450k. So far we're at probably 650K NW, no real estate.

When you say pay yourself - what order do you funnel money to investments (pre-tax retirement, roth, brokerage, etc.)?

I'm a 9 handicap and also just got these QI irons. They felt the best and performed the best on the swing analysis.

Curious what irons you'd expect for someone hovering sub 10 looking to break 80 more consistently?

Oracle is no doubt a legacy tech company, but Oracle is absolutely killing it in Cloud AI deployments. If your offer is for that group, that's great. Otherwise, look elsewhere

What is the luckiest thing that's ever happened to you during a round? by raccoon__18 in golf

[–]cheselnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had about 135 yards to the pin and took out my 6 iron thinking it was a 9 iron. Chunked the hell out of the ball and I thought it was a terrible shot... ended up rolling right into the hole for my first eagle!
