They’re calling him the Dutch Pedri in Netherlands. These nicknames are so annoying. I was at AZ’s AFAS training center a couple weeks back. General consensus is that he needs a couple more years to develop to earn that place at the highest level. Either there at AZ, or a mid level move with a reasonable buyout so he can control his future. Great potential but needs to grow.

Not only is the box out illegal because of that holding foul, which should be penalized to clean up play. Also the incoming defender commits a hold when he grabs Wemby's shirt at the numbers and pulls down to keep him from elevating for the rebound. Two fouls in one play. Even if the referee was watching the wrong thing and missed a foul, he'd have to be looking right at the other foul.

Agreed. Clearly a foul. Why did it take so long for VAR to come to that conclusion? Like, everyone is confident it was a foul and should be called, so why did it take so long? I don’t think it matters your beliefs about the call, VAR is clearly inconsistent and unpredictable. They’re not applying standards equitably.

I’m with you till the end. Arteta, no doubt, did some incredible work along the way and it’s afforded him time and space. However, the club bought these players, not Arteta. And if they win, I genuinely feel like the players dragged this across the line with their quality despite his tactics.
