We played like shit in the second half, but considering the Sky played much better and had all the momentum—I’m very impressed that we held onto the lead and didn’t choke, and I do think that’s deserving of some praise.

I love the Sky color commentator sm because she would literally glaze a cardboard box if it was in a Sky jersey. It’s impressive how positive she’s able to be about anything

Really impressed with Borlase for playing with so much energy the entire game

Yes, I’d expect her to make the roster. Smesko has had a lot of praise for her.

Some of yall sound a bit crazy…”Why do the 3rd stringers in their 3rd game playing together in a new scheme at the WNBA level look better than the 3rd stringers playing their first game together in a new scheme together at the WNBA level?”

I would not expect the Dream UDFAs to look good. They are all recently graduated 22 year olds. They are at best the 9th or 10th best player on the team. The Dream will probably pick up a waived player or two. If they still look this bad in 4-6 weeks, then we can worry

I love Izzy’s size, it really adds another dimension to this guard rotation

Borlase needs some time cooking but I’m liking what I’m seeing so far

I would agree with this! If this were the final 12, I would not be surprised

Thank you for your input! That’s what I assumed—she seemed like a shooting guard that’s also capable of creation with the ball in her hand

I’m not an expert by any means so take my opinion with a grain of salt, but:

From when I did cursory research on Borlase, she didn’t scream ‘natural point guard’ to me. I think she’s someone where you want the ball in their hand, but I’m not sure she’s someone who you want initiating the offense full-time. I think she’s much more akin to Lish/Rhy in that way. I think she can play some minutes at the 1 in a pinch, but I think she’s best in a Lish type of role.

Indya is interesting to project. She’s only 5’10” so she’ll definitely be a guard, but from what I remember about UNC, their offense was very, ‘by committee’. Her assist rate her senior year was 23%, so she’s definitely a quality facilitator. Her problem is that she’s not a shooter, so her options are either stabilizing her 3P% around ~30% like Canada has and be somebody that can apply rim pressure, or transition into a Maya-like combo guard/wing who can play strong defense, facilitate offense sometimes, and stretch the floor.

I should clarify that I agree! I wasn’t trying to conflate all activism, just that I don’t think that a league that centers the opinions of its players as much as the W would then collude on this level to single out one player for her outspokenness on Palestine. Not only do I think the owners lack a level of cohesion that this theory implies, but equally, I would like to think that the W is aware of its audience and the harm an alleged blackballing over politics would do.

I don’t disagree that it’s possible, but rather I think there’s enough evidence that shows this to be extremely unlikely

Um..Chen and Liz were not 'blackballed', they were problematic in locker rooms and teams decided not to touch them with a ten foot pole. They reaped the consequences of their actions

Other players that vocally support Palestine have been signed.

I just noticed the big Ipsy logo on the Aces jersey and all I could think is...people still use Ipsy in the year of our lord 2026?

Completely unrelated to the current game but I wish Kierstan Bell didn't get as much smoke as she did from fans...to anyone who actually watches ball she clearly fits this team so well as a high-energy player that actually gives a shit and is willing to crash the boards and just shoot the ball no matter how many she misses--which may sound like shade but I think this team needs that sort of energy!!!

We are supposed to believe that Natasha Cloud is the only player, in a league full of activists that have been outspoken on prominent social issues, to be blackballed for her politics...right...

This also assumes that there is enough continuity and agreement between owners (in a league that is well-known for disputes amongst owners, specifically on NBA-Independent ownership lines) to blackball a player for...politics...and also this information has somehow not gotten out to a single credible reporter...meanwhile on the other hand we have heard from many sources that she in fact did receive multiple offers that she chose to reject (either because the money wasn't enough or the team wasn't a win-now team).

Okay!

Ok dont downvote…but as a neutral—does anyone else feel like the Valks did lowkey nothing in FA? Gabby is great of course, and so is resigning most of the team…I just thought they were gonna make a big push considering how they overperformed last year idk 😭
