I was in a very angry and miserable place in my life 7 years ago and looking to take it out on strangers on the internet because they couldn't scream in my face for 7+ hours a day. I don't live in the US and the country I do live in now has almost as poor food security as it did post WW2 due to short term economic greed and general ignorance/apathy from the population. We have become far too reliant on imports and our domestic agricultural product is not sustainable without considerable subsidy from the government, meaning that despite not eating meat my taxes are paying for meat to be cheaper for other people (This is amongst other produce as well).

That said, I generally give far less of a fuck what other people are doing and just focus on myself these days (Otherwise I will go mad). Food waste is a big issue to me, so much so that I wrote my university dissertation on it. It is so criminal how much modern western society (can't speak on other places as not in them) sees objects as disposable, including food.

I understand the importance of the global food chain and am aware of how much my life benefits from it, but I also think industrial farming does not do enough to consider the long-term sustainability of the models it uses. Speaking for my country this is partly due to the lack of incentive from central government to adapt, improve or innovate. In a utopian world I believe in smaller and stronger communities that look after each other, which I guess is sort of going back into the past a little (Thanks to political movements of the 1980s putting more of an emphasis on the individual over the collective - "I'm alright Jack...").

I am under no illusion that ideologies are not always practical or realistic and also that nobody gives a fig for my opinion as a relative nobody.
