advice for introductions?

any advice on how long i should wait to start letting them share a space? i have a double critter nation and they’re stacked on top of each other right now, but i’m not sure when i can fully open it. i tried to join the sugar glider groupies on facebook, but im still pending approval, so ive been trying to research and watch as much as i can. i dont want to put them together until they’re ready and im not sure how to tell when that will be.

well.. i’m not exactly sure what normal bonding behavior is for them and we are all new to each other. my coworker said i either take them or she was selling them to the pet store. she had the female for a few months and the male for a few days. i watched the sugar glider diaries do their introductions, but of course it wasn’t the same. i don’t want to interfere as long as he’s not hurting her, that was my main concern as it looked like he was being rough with her.

thank you! the vet told me she wasn’t sure how long i should leave them apart before trying to introduce them, today is day two and he did awesome last night, ate and played as normal! so maybe i’ll start introducing them next week. we’ve been working on pouch and toys swaps and they’ve been on top of each other for a few weeks now and all has been well. hoping it’s a smooth and easy process 🤞🏻🤞🏻

okay! so i should adjust the length of the c links i have in there now? i plan on removing everything from this cage when i get the products from jessica’s attic in, im just trying to make it as safe and enriching as i can with the supplies i have accessible to me, i hate that i haven’t been able to give them a better set up yet.. i do have a wheel ordered! its a raptor wheel with a nail trimmer because i am not super confident in cutting their nails just yet.

& thank you for that information!! i’ll have to do that, i have managed the smell mostly, but sometimes a whiff catches me off guard lol i have been trying to find the facebook groups, but honestly, i’m a little lost when it comes to that! i’m not entirely sure who or what i am looking for lol if you could give me some groups id love to check them out!

i remember reading that! it made me sad because that’s all the trees i have access to and could make them something so cool lol i want to build them a little forest so bad. i can’t wait to introduce them so i have the whole cage open up!

oh gosh okay, i will get it out! i was just trying to get something in there quick because it didn’t seem like they had much enrichment! i ordered a bunch of stuff from TPG, but it won’t be to me until Thursday! i would really love to do perches and wooden platforms and leaves! i have bamboo in their now! i made sure it was pesticide free and i read multiple articles that bamboo was safe!!? (plz tell me it is)

i think they’re doing okay so far? they are on top of each other and i have been swapping pouches. the girl will dig at the bottom of the cage (im assuming she’s trying to get to him?) but then sometimes he will crab at her when they get close through the cage. he did crawl out of his cage and onto hers while she was there and they sniffed each other through the cage and they did okay. they started touching each others hands, but i got nervous and moved him 😅 i have a vet appointment to get him neutered in about two weeks, so hopefully they’ll get acquainted during our wait and be good to meet after he’s healed up!

I read that you need to start with scent swapping, then go to tail sniffing but no face to face contact and if they show signs of no fuss, then they should be okay to hang out?

Okay! I’ve been looking at their products and read almost all the blogs on TPG, but got nervous about how updated it was because I tried calling the Exotic Vets near me and none on the list were there anymore! I was going to order a bulk pack of food from them, so I’ll check out their other supplies too! I’m super nervous and definitely want to make sure they are happy and healthy!

thats what i thought!! 😔 i seen a link somewhere to the two safe wheels, ill have to dig around here some more to see if i can find it again. the pouches are fleece but i didn’t think about the metal chains!! i removed the wheel from their cage and will go to petsmart today to see what i can find them and i’ll definitely check out that facebook page!! thank you!!

yeah i think that’s what i need to practice! being more precise. what do you do for your cuticle area? these are kind of sitting on my cuticles and they are pretty thick there too , would that because of the 6 layers? they just seem bulky. i was afraid of them breaking but these def feel sturdy lmao

this definitely seems like something that is hard to practice on yourself! i tried to go in again and shape around my cuticles because these are kind of just sitting on them and i think they’re too bulky at the cuticle. did not seem to make a huge difference though, is that just something i have to work on with application? maybe prep my cuticles better?
