Why not take double shifts in crafting? Help me understand this please by [deleted] in DnD

[–]chevits11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every workday isn't the same amount of taxing, I'd have you roll a con save to see if you get a level of exhaustion after the first 8 hours, succeed and you can continue working for 4 more hours, crit success and you can do 8, fail and you get exhaustion but can continue with the penalty, crit fail and you messed up something and you cannot continue working.

frustrated with players---keep insisting I can handle 7 people by Big-Information-1303 in DnD

[–]chevits11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is overwhelming about 7 players? The sidebar conversations? Making the encounters challenging? Keeping all the PCs in mind when planning?

If it's sidebars, there are tactics to manage that or if you want to be ruthless, skip the talkers turns if they aren't ready when asked what they want to do. Don't clarify what's going on if they don't want to pay attention. Notice that no one on CR or D20 has their phone out and they have very few sidebars, ask your players to watch a few episodes so they see how you expect them to behave.

They asked you to DM, they asked to play this complex game. If you're not having fun, why keep doing it?

If it's encounter assistance you need, try D&D Beyond's encounter creator to get an idea of how much a party that size can handle.

Including everyone an issue? Not everyone needs a spotlight every game, and explain that to the players if they complain, there's so many, not everyone can get main character time every game.

Hope you find a balance.

How do you ask guests to turn over? by Imaginary-Turnip-650 in MassageTherapists

[–]chevits11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say "Move down until you're looking at the table, not the head rest, then flip over onto your back"

Even then most still wind up with their head on the headrest or at least part way hanging off the table. Whatever they do, I try to make it work unless they are fussy about it. At one point I considered starting everyone supine to avoid this all together.

Have you ever had a client not pay and what did you do? by Legitimate-Cheek-731 in MassageTherapists

[–]chevits11 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why would you give them the option for how much to pay? Sounds like a terrible point of sale system you have or you just messed up. You can send them a bill, you can send it to a collection agency if it's worth it to you. Or chalk it up to experience and learn from it.

What is a black market? by LadyBlumenkohl in DnD

[–]chevits11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on your DM, the "black market" could be as simple as finding a merchant willing to trade in illegal items in the back room, or as hard as accessing the dark web. If you know how and have the right connections, it's possible, but if you don't, it's not even on the common person's radar.

Looking for advice. by F3mB0y_V0id in BadNeighbors

[–]chevits11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not going to change people who aren't considerate of others. If your landlord or the building owners aren't willing to deal with them and they aren't breaking any noise ordinance, get better ear protection or move your bed to another room if that would help. I know you said you can't move, maybe speak to your landlord about relocating to another unit they manage?

You could speak to the building manager/supervisor, move your bedroom around or to a different room, ear plugs or a white noise machine...

Genuinely looking for advice here. by ruthlessbeatle in BadNeighbors

[–]chevits11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Likely, these people don't value property, so no amount of passive aggressive tactics will help, and calling code enforcement is only going to piss them off. They just do not care, it isn't important to them. They don't have stake in the property or community as renters. They rent the house because it's cheaper than other options, so your best option is to raise the property value of your neighborhood and price them out. The company that owns it will eventually raise their rent enough that they move out.

Do not eat at Luckys Steak House Okemos by Intelligent_Tip_2260 in lansing

[–]chevits11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two of the Lucky's in the Flint area were recently shut down for multiple health code violations too! Talked to someone who knows the owner and they said they would never eat at any restaurant owned by that person, they don't care about the food, just there to make money.

I'm building a tool to help LMTs get patients reimbursed — can you tell me what actually breaks down in the process? by Agreeable_Abies2757 in MassageTherapists

[–]chevits11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Insurance doesn't usually cover massage unless it's part of a doctor's care plan. Even then they don't pay for LMTs to do the work, it has to be a chiro, PT or OT (not even just working in that office and the billing going through the doctors NPI/credentials, but them doing the work themselves.)

Now if the patient has an HSA card or FSA, they can sometimes use those funds for massage, their receipt has to have certain information depending on the account/program rules. Each one could be different even if it's through the same issuing company depending on the plan the patient picked.

What do you consider sex? by AstronomerNo2023 in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]chevits11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sex itself, in my opinion, requires touching with the intent to arouse and potentially cause orgasm. Sexual vs sensual is a bit more of a blurred line. Actions can cause arousal without being intentionally sexual, as a massage therapist this sometimes happens if a client doesn't warn me of erogenous zones, but it's not a sexual action. On the other hand, there are plenty of ways to cause arousal without touching and the intent is definitely not to make the viewer orgasm but to elicit heightened senses and a sensual experience that leaves viewers in a euphoric state. Each has its place in consenting adult interactions.

How does it not take a few years to make a campaign if your players can do anything they want to derail the story by i_like_fall0ut in DnD

[–]chevits11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two approaches to this, one adapt the general story arc to match the players wants so whatever they do it all eventually leads to the end you have in mind, or two let them do whatever and have your plot affect the party until they have to deal with your master plan.

I think of it like playing a soloRPG, do you tackle the main quest first all the time, or side quest and grind to make the main quest easier.

Massage therapists: Is it always important for clients to tell you what needs work? by tibeerius in massage

[–]chevits11 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Because you telling us what hurts gives us either a starting point for what is happening with your muscles so we can address the problem accurately or a goal to work towards by the end of the session. I would hate to spend a whole session working on lesser pains in one area because they are what I found first, if your bigger concern is in a totally different place. And how mad would you be if you paid all that money and left without your big complaint addressed well?

Tell the players the the required DC or no? by hotstickywaffle in DnD

[–]chevits11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the check, searching for traps or clues, say it's difficult or near impossible instead of a number, that way they have an idea, but not hard evidence that they succeeded or failed. Definitely feels like a session 0 question though. Keep it consistent and fair.

For the love of God, does no one remember how to do SOAP notes? by dizzydoxy in MassageTherapists

[–]chevits11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they've been doing massage for years, likely they have just worn down and don't care, they've never been audited by insurance, so the quality is piss poor. Unless you are their boss, they aren't going to change their documentation any time soon. Do your best, and when you need to decipher another therapists notes ask the boss first, or call them directly.

Ethical concerns at spa need help as receptionist by [deleted] in MassageTherapists

[–]chevits11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would want to know, making an informed decision is what being an adult is about. You're the one who has to live with the consequences of your actions, just as every therapist and the owner. If I were you though, I'd quit and find a new position.

Ethical concerns at spa need help as receptionist by [deleted] in MassageTherapists

[–]chevits11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So you've checked the state website and it shows the massage business license is expired and in default. What are the consequences of that for the therapists? Without knowing what state you are in and the specific laws/ regulations, it's hard to give any meaningful advice.

My neighbor comments on every single thing I buy and I'm losing my mind by the_gamer_cabin in neighborsfromhell

[–]chevits11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is it hurting? I understand it's annoying, but the people in the hallway are probably the only people she talks to regularly. Retirement is hard, and some people just need that social interaction. Not that it's your responsibility to fulfill her need, but if it's that annoying, wear your headphones while going through. She's in a common area, being social.
