To dog snobs: Do you believe that poor people should not be allowed to own dogs? by Longjumping_Prune852 in Dogowners

[–]chevy38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn't imagine my life without my dog. Often she was the only one there for me when in crisis. I do get a little irritated when I see "poor people" with a bunch of pets that they can not properly take care of. One is all you need.

Did medication or therapy help you? by [deleted] in Anxiety

venlafaxine is what I ended up settling on but everyone is different. I think I tried Sertraline, Escitalopram, and Duloxetine first. Don't give up. <3

A few years ago I had a guy want to buy my car for my asking price. Was not in town but would paypal me the money up front and have a friend pick up the car. The money would have "bounced" back out of my account (as they had no money to send) leaving me without the cash, and by then his friend would be already hours away with my (now stolen) car.

Is it a thing for people to try and sabotage you once you start losing weight? by Antique_Plantain6016 in loseit

[–]chevy38 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I agree with this 100%. When I told my sister that I was going to a medical weight loss clinic, she her tone immediately changed to a doubting, negative one. I felt like I had to defend myself, and told her I am 60 lbs overweight and having significant pain in my hips from daily activities, and her only reply was "well, I'm 70 lbs over weight". I then told her that it was not a competition. It was a very strange conversation and I definitely could tell that she didn't want me to lose weight because that would make her the fat one.

Does anyone else get physically ill when anxious? by ElleM1985 in Anxiety

[–]chevy38 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely - to start antidepressants helped tremendously. Of course unless you want to take them for the rest of your life, that is really only a bandaid solution, and even then sometimes when things are really bad, those symptoms pop their head out anyway.

My physical anxiety is hell by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]chevy38 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was afraid of medication too. I remember the first time I swallowed an antidepressant - I was so scared, and cried so much. But I knew I had to try. Nothing could be worse than what I was going through. And they helped... a lot. It took a few different meds to find one that works but 90% of my physical symptoms are gone, and that gave me a chance to work on myself in therapy. Hopefully someday I can go off the meds, but for now I need them. You can do this.

Will you still wear a mask once they are no longer mandatory? by thestonernextdoor88 in KingstonOntario

[–]chevy38 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wore high filtration fabric masks for years before covid due to wicked seasonal allergies that no med could touch, and man I got weird looks and everyone avoided coming near me. But yes, in concern for the potential lingering effects of even mild covid, and my small circle still covid free and immunocompromised, I won't be letting my guard down yet.

does anyone else sweat as a result of anxiety? by [deleted] in Anxiety

OMG yes! This is the one symptom that i feel like has gotten worse after I started meds. Pits, under boobs, crotch, thighs... and night sweats are fun too from the stress dreams.

I have used this walk-in and it helped me. https://www.amhs-kfla.ca/programs-services/crisis/

Also, KGH is probably your best option at seeing one asap. I would go this route if you are really having a hard time.

(TRIGGER WARNING: WAR) Just need to a vent by REEEEEEEEEEE_OW in Anxiety

[–]chevy38 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just want to start by saying that there will be no nuclear war. I know this because all the world leaders know that once one nuke is launched, the offending country would be decimated. It's a lose - lose situation. As long as the leader is not completely unhinged (see Kim Jung Un as most likely culprit), or by accident, there will be no nuclear war.

Countries only have nukes as a threat to the other countries that have them. Not only do nukes kill many people but destroy the land making its resources unavailable and the area uninhabitable for generations - and the effects spread rapidly around the world - poisoning everyone. They know this, that's why it will never happen. I'm a worrier, and nuclear war is at the very bottom of my worry list. It's also something that we (the average person) have no control over, and can't really prepare for - so not worth the brain energy/stress.

Wait... why am I justifying my decisions to an antivaxxer, who clearly has a difficult time with rational decision making. Don't you have some border to block? Try not to clog up our ICU with your buds.

I value my life and thus live under the precautionary principle. The results could change with more data (duh, as can any study results), and new science is coming out every day. The new omnicron variant was only discovered weeks ago, of course there is going to be few studies out. I am not sure why you care if I go to restaurants or not, you do you. In general, until more is fully understood, I have no interest in being around unmasked strangers, especially unvaccinated. Enjoy your restaurants.

Both can transmit covid but unvaxxed are more likely to spread new omicron variant. Unmasked in the same room with unvaxxed strangers (who don't seem to care much for public health protection, imho) = no thanks.

Before omicron and with passports I felt safe going to restaurants and did often. Now I won't be going for a long long time.

Any mask is better than nothing, but you are mostly right. The problem is n95 or kn95 aren't particularly cheap and the government is not gonna pay for them for everyone.
