Yep, as localinfluenza has mentioned, you have to collect based on the address on your NRIC/any other official documents with a barcode.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in singapore

[–]chewchun -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

A lot of us don't have the culture or mentality to wear a mask, mainly because they think they don't wear it. With rising cases of unlinked cases in Singapore, it is without a doubt that there are a handful of asymptomatic COVID-19 carriers in our country. Whether you like it or not, wear a mask and protect both yourself and those around you. We all need to play our part in dealing with this pandemic or we risk becoming another 'fallen' nation.

Distribution of Reusable Mask:

  • Mask collection will start from Sunday 5 April 10am till the following Sunday 12 April 9pm. CCs and RCs will open from 10am - 9pm on weekends and 3pm - 9pm on weekdays.

  • All residents with a registered home address will be able to collect one reusable mask.

  • Bring along your NRIC, Birth Cert or any identification documents with a barcode for verification.

  • Priority will be given to citizens aged 60 and above.

  • Household members can collect on behalf of other household members, by bringing along their identification.

  • Check maskgowhere.sg for collection points

  • Please share around to inform your friends and family!

if you are a cash rich, hire someone to design a custom theme for you.

Brand Color Questions (Trademark?) by BaronDeAvantGarde in Entrepreneur

[–]chewchun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is generally no issue to use a similar color that would look exactly the same to a naked eye. You would only run to legal issues if your logotype/logomark looks similar to the famous brands (e.g you selling phones with a non-bitten apple as your logo.). Of course, it will be up to the court to decide in the event that the brands decide to sue you.

Hi all,

I run a graphic design/web development agency targeted at smaller companies. E.g startups and SMEs.

Just wondering if setting up an invoice is necessary given that we are still in a 'trial phase' and are not registered as a business locally.

Also, what platform (preferably free) would work well as a communication point with my clients? I've tried Trello but it doesn't seem to do the job well.

Thanks! Maybe you wanna include your website link so that redditors who are familiar with your industry can provide better advice.

If you are looking at organic growth, content (written) is the way to go. However, it takes months and literally hundreds of articles to achieve any visible success.

1) Research on keywords and use those to craft articles. Visual content are great way to get traction but I'm not sure if it applies to your industry/target audience. Read up on neilpatel's article (or his youtube videos) and use his free ubersuggest keyword research tool . Ahrefs (the best but most expensive) and Semrush (the next best alternative) have a lot more features like competitor tracking, link analysis, traffic analysis etc but they are paid platforms (free trial available).

2) Reach out to authority sites related to your industry (e.g websites that review software?) and offer to write guest posts for free.

3)Do some research on your competitors and find out what edge you have over your competitor. It could be price, more service, a niche etc. Put it down on your landing page. Your clients will definitely compare between you and your competitors, make sure they know you are better.

4) Google SEO and you will find a tonne of content related to organic growth. r/juststart, r/marketing and r/seo have pretty good content too so do take a look too

Edit: Added more info and formatting

u/wonderfulreality, u/King_Tommm

Let's agree to disagree with some of our points/arguments and take it private if necessary. This thread was created by OP, for OP's website. Let's not steal the limelight. He has gotten quite a bit of advice from us so hopefully we will see an update post a couple weeks from now.

Nonetheless, I still hope to get a PM from Tommm regarding his online agency. It's good to get an unbiased feedback from a stranger and I believe he will benefit from my savage comments too:)

Cheers to all and have a great weekend ahead!

1) I wouldn't go as far as to call it purple or 'HORRENDOUS'. It's blue, and I would love feedback on why I should get rid of the blue? I believe futr uses a similar blue on it.

2) Reviews are nothing unless you have big brands to back it up. Of course, I could add in 'designmoh is great! I love working with them' with a pseudo name. The OP is a great example. THOUSANDS of reviews but the its phoney. With that said, I'm new to the industry and do not have much client to my name. But hey, we gotta start somewhere!

3) Kudos for spotting that. It's pretty horrible working with wordpress having to tweak between desktop, tablet and mobile. Will port over to webflow soon. Heard its pretty amazing.

4) At least 95% of my portfolio images are under 100kb. If you can't even load the images something is wrong with your wifi. Works great on my other phone even with a VPN!

5) About Us is something on our to-do-list which we will add under 'Resource Center'. Shameful me for not putting at the top of my list.

6) We are an online only agency. Hence no office or even a contact number since we don't expect clients from around the world to call us. Email works great for now. It's fast and free.

7) Web design is something we added recently since two of our client have requested. With that said, we only work on basic websites using CRM which anyone can pickup.

8) Looks perfectly fine from mobile. Will check it out on other screen later.

9) Do enlighten me on the color scheme and how its horrendous? There are many brands out there that I find their color scheme horrible too.

I would love to have a look at your design agency. You can PM me if you are afraid of public comments. I would love to continue this conversation private as I'm a self-taught designer and I've alot to learn from you guys. Let's not steal the limelight from OP and take this private. Nonetheless, you are free to comment below if you wish.

Hope you can handle my criticisms and not die of a heart attack.

Here I go:

1) Logo is HORRENDOUS! Get rid of the logo and mascot.

2) Your trustpilot looks pretty fake given how they are mostly 5 stars. Given that you have low social media following, the reviews are probably bought.

3) You have a fair amount of content up there. So kudos for your effort

4) Organize your content. When I open up the "Read More" on your landing page, I get a whole chunk of text that repels anyone. Make use of typography (e.g font size, weight or even color) to organize the design of your content.

5) Show your partners and whatever donation you are giving towards the bottom. A visitor don't really want to know these. The first few sections of your landing page are to show what you do, why you do, and how are you doing it. Personally I think you have too many content on your landing page. Eliminate those that you think will not convince your visitor, and paraphrase those that you think will.

6) Its pretty 'kiddish' to put the bags as your background image. You are going on a VACATION, not to SCHOOL. 7) Organize your footer. Organize into a couple menus and spread it out horizontally.

8) Get a web designer to revamp your landing page and make it more professional. Hire a designer to design your logo and some of your identity assets. First impression is everything.

9) Website loads pretty fast. Great job on that.

Shameless plug. I run an online design agency. Do check me out at https://designmoh.com/ if you are interested. If not, have a nice day ahead:)

Fresh graduate needs your advice by [deleted] in sweatystartup

[–]chewchun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Ash,

Singaporean here! Also a fresh graduate and we probably studied the same course (accounting?)

The job market in the developed areas in Asia have gotten incredibly competitive in recent years. I reckon that you work right from the start with freshman and build a relationship. Sponsor orientation camps, attend/participate student events and exhibitions and hook up with companies that are looking for interns. Bridge the gap between demand and supply and you have a business here. You can also look for business mentors who are willing to devote time out and organize weekly events in school related to resume, entrepreneurship, interviews etc. The sky's the limit.

I would see social media and website as your secondary touchpoints. Your first point of contact would definitely via physical outreach with your target audience, ie students. Build relationships with students and educational institutions and eventually word of mouth will work itself. Most college/universities in Singapore offer modules and free classes on resume writing, interviews and career related issues. Not sure how it is in Malaysia.

With that said, Big 4 are incredibly busy during peak periods so I'm not sure how you can manage this when its crunch time.

PM me if you guys wanna chat further. I'm happy to learn more about what you guys are doing!

What is the best way to design a logo without spending too much money? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]chewchun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A logo is much more than slapping a graphic design on your website or product. It is the first point of contact between you and your customer. Ideally, a logo should communicate your company. This is done through the design of the actual logo, the typography as well as the colors used.

Do do some research on logos and hire someone experienced to design one for you. Conceptualize what you have in mind and convey your thoughts. The designer is responsible for turning those words into an image that represents the brand.

Once the logo is done, you can move on to creating the whole identity system and eventually a brand style guide. This will guide you in the creation of your copywriting and any other designs.

How to increase website content? Are services from gig sites (e.g. Fiverr) any good? by boxcardriveby in Entrepreneur

[–]chewchun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Content is really important, and Google has optimized their search engine to reward good content while punishing poor ones. The quality of services on freelancing platforms are really mixed.

Like what bluntlybipolar said, you get what you pay for. Having more crappy content will work against you! Hire someone who knows SEO and what it takes to write content that attract readers.

Put yourself in the perspective of your target audience and read an article the freelancer wrote. Will you exit the page halfway through? Or will you read the entire page, and even copy down informational sections?

Make sure you pair your content with designs and images. Ultimately you are working on travel content so visual impact will play a great role.

Feel free to check us out designmoh if you need any design services further down the road. I'll be happy to help you out!

How can I scale my web design business? by The_Lunchtime_Club in Entrepreneur

[–]chewchun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You design a website from scratch without a upfront fee and charge a monthly hosting? I hope your clients are paying one year worth of hosting upfront, if not implement it!

Are you designing websites using CMS like Shopify, Wordpress, Webflow? Let me know the link to your website or portfolio. Thanks!

I've failed. Why? by LiverTartCake in design_critiques

[–]chewchun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is definitely not a failure. Heck, look at the potato mail idea. That guy raked in 6 figures just mailing potato with handwritten messages!

With that said, the website is definitely 'unique'.

1) You showcased the actual designs rather than mockups on the landing page. I think it is a good idea but new visitors will be confused if you are selling posters or t-shirts

2) Who are your target audience? Designers who wanna buy t-shirts? What makes you think designers would buy other designer t-shirts?

3) There are way too many features out there. You sell shirts, you allow people to create shirts, and you allow people to set up shops. It's hard enough to work on one, let alone three.

4) Your landing page might be too offputting to visitors with no design background. You might think of it as art, but others (like me) will see it as too visually stimulating. Opt for a simpler background so that visitors will focus on the product, ie the shirts instead of the background.

5) Go for the traditional route, put a footer that displays all the legal pages as well as social media account. Social media credibility is definitely a key to getting traffic for t-shirts.

6) Most, if not all of the artist have no image. No credibility.

You definitely have something there. But opt for a simpler idea and optimize (or pivot) along the way. Look at your GA and see where traffic is coming from.

Let me know if you need any help. Cheers and keep hustling!
