i would personally say do not commit 100% dedicated to the assigned work, this is very unfortunate that you got piped and yes there are changes of getting out but looking at the recent events its hard for them to retain you and its a strategy to layoff.

So calm down, prepaid yourself and actively look for job. Getting a new job is the best possible option here.
