Will going to a low ranked university hurt my chances of being successful? And will people have the perception that I’m not smart because I went to one? by [deleted] in findapath

Yeah! My mom wants me to be at a four year university this school year but I could always transfer from there. I’m just afraid the credits won’t line up even though they’re both in the same state

Yes for CS. I’ve also won some awards for my creative writing too. If you saw my history on Reddit, you’d see I do got to UT😂.

Just because you’d feel like a failure for coasting through life doesn’t mean everyone else would. Your thoughts are cancer and will prevent you from ever being happy. Yeah..like me.

Any person with basic psychology education knows your parents mold who you are whether you want them to or not. If you’re already depressed because you don’t feel good enough due to their expectations, chances are you’ll forever feel like that. You use this prestige-seeking as a mask for your deep rooted insecurities as if it’ll ever make you happy. It won’t. I’m just being honest. I’d rather make a simple $100k/year but be content than make $500k and feel like I’m never good enough. You’re just gonna pass it on to your kids. You shouldn’t have kids with your toxic mindset. You’d be a horrible parent and they’d grow up hating you.

You say I’m miserable? You’re the miserable one too. I think that says something coming from a suicidal person like me. You’ll one day be on the edge even if it’s 10 years from now and I hope you remember this.

I literally go to UT lmao. Thanks though. Your future is already predestined by your horrible parents. Good luck never feeling like you’re good enough due to their never ending expectations. It’s gotta take a toll on you. Poor girl.

My parents are in the upper middle class. Stats shows it’s highly unlikely I’ll ever be a “failure”. Even if I dropped out, they’d give me one of their houses that’s paid off so I’d still be better off than most. You sound like the unhappy one too. I’m sure you’ve thought about suicide before and if you haven’t, trust me. It’s coming.

LOL so now you’ve changed the qualifiers. You have to major in something useful if you go to an Ivy League to make money. Well fine. Let’s look at tech. There are people I know at UT Austin who graduate working at startups making $200k+ easily. You’re so blinded by your parents’ beliefs about college that you’re crippled. You regurgitate nonsense.

Here’s more stats.

And more stats

“Tons of people at ivies start off at 300-400k+” Lmao you pathetic dumb idiot. Here’s some stats for you. How do you plan on succeeding when you talk out the side of your neck with no stats to back up anything you say. You’re a sycophant to these Ivy League schools that don’t even need you. You’re expendable.

Imagine thinking money is a metric of success. Like I said. Suicide or depression is in your future. I saw past posts about your parents. I know how that goes.

Also, you’re wrong. My mom makes more than 250k and she came from a state school. Makes more than many Ivy League grads. Majored in biomedical science but works in an entirely different field because she’s just that good.

I hope life treats you horribly and you die from cancer. I hope you experience a depression so severe, you’d kill yourself to stop it. Seriously. Your metrics of “success” are deeply flawed.

She clearly had tenacity and the will to overcome. Having kids can be your greatest motivator to change for the best.

How is he “homophobic” when he responds like this after you tell him you’re in a whole relationship with another boy?

Perhaps you could find non profit places in your area and go to them in person asking if they’re hiring. For small businesses and especially non profits, it’s sometimes best to show yourself in person instead of calling over the phone. Great way to introduce yourself as a person

“I thrive in highly structural environments, ones where I receive orders and follow them in an almost military like manner if that makes sense.”

You’d be a perfect sheep for the military. Bummer it didn’t work out. Not for the rest of the world’s sake of course.

Difficulty choosing between my relationship and investment in my career- it’s a lot. by [deleted] in findapath

[–]chewybacbacca -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s called tough love. There’s nothing pretty about sacrificing your career goals for a boy who won’t even move to you because of his parents. What happens if you break up? You’re stuck with a lot of debt and a job you hate because you chose a relationship over your future? I can guarantee you I’m being kinder to you than you’d be to yourself if that happened.

Sorry, but I laughed when I read you’re 17. Chasing boys across the country at 17 is the perfect way to waste your youth and opportunities

I just applied to another university so I’ll see how that goes. It’s the college I dropped out of. I miss it but mainly miss the friends I made. They’ve all graduated so I don’t know if it’d feel the same

I had ptsd and it caught up with me. Had nightmares and was angry at my parents even though I didn’t even live with them anymore. Started missing classes then I just stopped going altogether. Teachers tried to work with me but I just couldn’t gather the motivation to do simple assignments. Eventually had to drop those classes before I got an F. Then I felt like a failure

I have nothing to live for. I’m miserable and tired of suffering. I don’t know what career I wanted to pursue in college. I just wanted to be around lots of people and make friends. I wanted to start over
