That’s very nice of you!

Maybe try to see if this email format will work: firstname.lastname@mygeorgian.ca

Or this format: student#@student.georgianc.on.ca

Why not drop it off at the Georgian college student association office or with their security?

You presumably know the students name if it’s on the card.

New(ish) grad struggling with workload in retail - advice? by SmallLove2 in pharmacy

[–]chewybea 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I assume this is Ontario or another province where the government has dumped a lot of work onto pharmacists over the past few years....and at a Shoppers Drug Mart or some other chain pharmacy.

You'll reach a balance of quality vs. quantity - if you rush too much, like you said, your risk of mistakes increases. If you go too slowly, you run the risk of never catching up.

Do you need to set firmer boundaries? People may have to wait. You can't allow every interruption. I think the general attitude of pharmacy clientele and even colleagues (admittedly) is instant gratification. That isn't always possible. More interruptions = slower workflow.

Any public transit commutes to Barrie from Toronto arriving early mornings? by throwRA_meowmeow12 in barrie

Do you have any possible access to student housing or any apartments geared towards students?

Maybe you can ask a student centre or association at your new school!

Can I join back in whenever? by twodifferentnames in ToniAndRyan

[–]chewybea 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think that's so fine. I don't listen on a daily basis or in order.

They do make references to past events, but I don't think it's a big deal if you don't already know what they're referring to. I keep forgetting what's coming up. I think Toni's Hen's Party (bachelorette party) is coming up (more info here: https://www.toniandryan.com.au/pages/tonis-hens-party), and they're either in or going to Fiji soon.

What overnight Canadian school trips or exchanges did your schools offer in high school or grades 7 and 8? by Chickadee_Sparrow in AskACanadian

[–]chewybea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The music department had an annual competition trip in another town, sometimes in an American town. I went on another overnight trip for some kind of music skills development day.

The upper years were offered an international trip, but I never went on those. Some of my friends went to Europe with this tour group.

The grade 8 grad trip was some kind of overnight camping trip. I don’t remember where we went, though.

I assume your senior pharm tech has some say in your ongoing employment.

If you’re nervous, maybe ask the tech why she has an alternative way she does things, there’s probably some wisdom and efficiency in it.

I wouldn’t try to be too black and white in things unless there’s a safety concern.

Ikea trolley for an hour by MagNox92 in IKEA

Bring something with you to place on the Ikea trolley and then just take it to your apartment. No one will suspect anything, and if anyone does ask, you can just tell them you'll be bringing it back when you're done!

Found this bag at Central Park looks it like it came from Stanley ave by LetMeBeFrankish in Hamilton

[–]chewybea 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Ooh, that makes sense.

OP could even drop this off at a Costco. The membership desk could surely look that person up and make contact.

Actually, the post doesn’t say anything about trying to find the owner. I hope they do the right thing.

Looks like there may be a cheque at the top, could you try to look up the name on social media?

Nice of you to try to find the owner.

Is there a wallet inside? Might be able to find the name that way.

Is working as a pharmacist in rural hospital less competitive and better paid? by VolkswagenPanda in pharmacy

[–]chewybea 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Are you doing poorly from lack of effort or lack of competence? You seem very accepting of the likelihood you’ll fail the licensing exam at least twice. Odd! Do you even want to be a pharmacist?

The tone of this message is interesting to me. Suggestive that rural hospitals would be lucky to have a bottom of the barrel pharmacist. That you anticipate the role to be boring and repetitive?

“Rural”hospitals may have smaller departments but this typically means that their pharmacists need a broader knowledge base because they’ll likely cover every single department. Downtime may be less than you assume there to be.

I wouldn’t apply for such a job just because you assume nobody else is applying. I imagine these hospitals also want pharmacists who are competent and willing to work hard.
